    Can VDS be oversold?

    Hi
There is no overselling done ,but I think one of the nodes is having this slow I/O problem

Kindly share your invoice number or VDS IP, I'll migrate it to another node

  • Invoice #131138
Please upgrade to 50G NVME and add monthly backup.

When you launched the product, you started selling the 5950X and 3950X. It’s not what you said: you only used the 3950X on the last few orders.

The Post clearly mentioned Ryzen CPU it never mentioned the CPU Model number

but still we used 5950x for the orders

then last few orders we added 3950x to cluster and before adding that I even added a post that all future orders will be setup on 5950x

Now but I'm trying to understand what exactly is the problem with your account ?

IF you give me details I can resolve it, may be I can migrate it to a 5950 based node

But without details it's not possible for me to resolve it

    Invoice#131215

Can you please confirm if your issue is resolved ?

  • HostEONSHostEONS Member, Host Rep

Ok guys I can confirm this slow Disk I/O is just isolated to one of the VPS Nodes R8-SLC2

So I'm going to start migration of all VPS from this node to another node

As I just checked another 3950x based nodes and there is no such issue

once all clients are migrated, then I'll check it, so you may experience downtime of few minutes on R8-SLC2

Regarding pending Free upgrades, guys I'll do it in a short while, I first need to fix this Slow I/O issue, I'm doing migration of VDS to another node, once it's done then I'll do the upgrades

How has the Node become less stable ?

    Did it reboot ?

Are you not getting 100% CPU ?

The Disk I/O may fluctuate as Disk I/O is shared between 16 VDS, a node has 16 VDS so it will keep varying during peak hours

Also since few users from R8-SLC2 complained now I noticed a lot of users are running benchmarks as Disk I/O has increased a lot, so check it during non-peak hours, you will find it better, but still close to 1 GB/s on a shared Disk is acceptable I think

Thanks for the invoice, but as I explained earlier even in a VDS, the Disk I/O is shared between all the VDS on a node, this node as 16 VDS on it, moreover

    1.61 GB/s (1.5k) is quite good, so what's there to complain ?

The network is good, but the disk test results doesn't look like NVME to me, I don't know what's going on with the disk speed.

    Can VDS be oversold?

    Hi
There is no overselling done ,but I think one of the nodes is having this slow I/O problem

Kindly share your invoice number or VDS IP, I'll migrate it to another node

    Yap, the results are inconsistent.

    Invoice 131186

It was just migrated to the new VPS node, can you have a check now ?

Moreover many more VDS migration is still going on same node which is very I/O intensive so it will get better once all VDS are migrated to the new node

I just checked I/O on the node itself and I get following results:

fio Disk Speed Tests (Mixed R/W 50/50):

Block Size 4k (IOPS) 64k (IOPS)

Thanks for the invoice, but as I explained earlier even in a VDS, the Disk I/O is shared between all the VDS on a node, this node as 16 VDS on it, moreover

    1.61 GB/s (1.5k) is quite good, so what's there to complain ?

My friend just ran a test on a server with the same configuration, and that's a big difference.

Maybe as you say, a lot of users are benchmarking, and I'll keep watching that

Well there is might be difference in number of VDS on that node

But do understand since you are getting 1.6 GB/s you are even not going to utilise this kind of disk I/O

And on shared disk I/O this is an acceptable output

  • I am sure I see 900 point difference on single core performance, that is huge

All I can say if you are on 3950x and if you want refund just submit a support ticket and mention as discussed with Kapil I'll proceed with it

Make sure to mention "As discussed with Kapil" else refund will be denied, it only applies to users on 3950x based nodes

I tried to gave the best possible deal, but if it makes you unhappy, I'll be happy to issue a refund.

Just make sure to do it within next 24 hours.

  • Also first link is for only 1vcore at $4.99

Maybe you need to close this thread or make it clear what it is that is on offer as it keeps changing

  • HostEONSHostEONS Member, Host Rep

This offer is over already, as all stock sold out, already updated stock on website

But keep thread open for clients to help them out, as a lot of users are yet to receive their upgrades

  • Invoice #131326

Please upgrade to 50G NVME and add monthly backup.

    Thanks!

  • What is post sale pricing? Renewal Rates?

These same VDS probably won't be available later as this is a clearance sale, we still have few nodes left out with Ryzen 5950 or 3950 based CPU, so we may continue to offer them for a while, but then these won't be available unless there are some cancellations.

Renewal Rates will remain same, unless there is some major increase in IP Pricing

But we are launching Ryzen 7950X based VDS next week, they will have different pricing
