cold storage management software
similar to a tape deck software I‘m looking for a utility which gives me an overview of my cold storage drives. I don‘t want any sync features, just a „one way“ solution.
features:
- Enter amount of HDDs and size.
- Enter locations to be saved
- one by one write to a external attached HDD
- Create a “virtual” file browser and index on which drive the file was stored.
If none exist and someone else with decent coding skills is also up for it this sounds like an open source project idea.

so basically it scans the drive before takes it out?
It keeps a database of all the files it stored and where they are. So when I want a file from 2016/07/swingset03.jpg it returns which HDD it was stored on.
