VPS Config Recommendation Request for Dedipath Refugee

Hello All, thanks in advance.

Not sure what would best serve our self-funded non-profit startup's needs for training volunteers around the world with our .mp4 videos of animated Keynote Presentations (Apple's version of Powerpoint). We can't use Youtube or Vimeo for security reasons. Our site is a simple Moodle site (Learning Management System) that uses videojs as a player for embedded videos. No eCommerce involved. OS is AlmaLinux 8 x86_64.

Our entire pre-launch site is currently 2Gb with 99% of this consisting of our videos (not including OS and cPanel, of course). Database will need power to manage users once we launch, so if all goes well, we'll need to scale up to accommodate that too. Want to make sure we have sufficient cores, ram, port speed, etc. to prevent hangups or crashes when the viewer changes cue position in the video (which we experienced with testing at Dedipath) or with simultaneous viewers. Will also be adding more videos, but they will have less simultaneous viewers.

With Dedipath, we had 2 Cores, 4Gb Ram with 10Gps port, cPanel, Softaculous. Not sure if Port speed made a difference or if Litespeed or a CDN for video would be a better investment. Saving some of our heavily HTML-only formatted pages started to lag on saving, which seemed odd, but not sure if this was related to Dedipath's downfall.

Had an absolutely horrible migration to Dedipath due to crazy bugs in Webuzo, so we moved back to using cPanel and are now scared to try any other Control Panel. Thoughts on DirectAdmin, for example, would be appreciated since this would help keep our costs down or free up money for better video support.

Also debating whether a separate VPS for remote backups at a different location is better than a backup service for Daily, Weekly, Monthly. Assumption is that VPS would be better for security. For remote VPS backup, we're thinking 2 CPU, 2Gb Ram, 1Gps Port, 120Gb Storage, also NVMe for efficiency. Noticed members celebrating RClone, so thinking of using this for a local safety as well, given the Dedipath nightmare, which we narrowly escaped intact: input welcome here too.

Finally, is the question of Shared Hosting versus Managed VPS. Our conclusions thus far have been that the Managed VPS is better for videos, speed, security, root access, but not sure if it's overkill and actually not as good as a "good quality Shared Hosting," as heard on LET.

Thanks again everyone!
