  • Where's your AUP? You have not added a link to it on your template. In fact, the page appears to be only semi-done.

I tried looking for you AUP to see what it said about IRC, as I am interested in deploying more IRCDs for my network.

I don't mean to be an asshole about it, or whatever, just letting you know...

@K0nsl We have merged our AUP into our Terms of service, But we need to clarify more about resource abuse, However we do indeed allow IRCs to be hosted on our network, And our resource abuse policy is if your Affecting other clients then there will be a warning, After the first written warning we will suspend if it continues to happen at a frequent basis, As clients are responsible for their own content but we understand Accidents happen now and then. If there is any question you would like to ask me, you can ask here or via support on raptornode.com we also have the option of skype which is "RaptorNode", On a site note the AUP page should be updated within the next 24 Hours with more clear guild lines.

  • Is it suitable for running DNS service?

  • MonsteRMonsteR Member
    edited December 2013

@NameStuff Yes running a DNS service would be fine, I have also updated the AUP at http://raptornode.com/aup.html

  • hell yeah, i was waiting for your promo so long..... @MonsteR i was really exciting to try it my self the RaptorNode

@iSky I am glad to hear! We have been listening to clients because normally we go out of stock on our smaller VPS plans instantly, So now instead of stock we will deploy new servers when needed which will fit clients demand alot better.

No Debian 7 available (both OpenVZ and KVM)? And what about IPv6?

  • MonsteRMonsteR Member
    edited December 2013

@netadmin We can install Debian 7, And actually was just installing a few extra templates, Also we can provide IPv6 on Demand for free.

    Edit:
Debian 7.0 Has been added for KVM's

  • @MonsterR I really doubt that the node is on a 1 Gbps port, it seems actually to be a on 100 Mbps port. And the available bandwidth outside of LA is the worst I have ever seen:

Tests made from a 128 MB KVM VPS running Debian 7:

    Download speed from CacheFly: 10.9MB/s

Download speed from Colo@, Atlanta GA, US: 609KB/s

Download speed from EvoSwitch, Manassas VA, US: 528KB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, Chicago IL, US: 521KB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, Denver CO, US: 611KB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, Los Angeles CA, US: 11.2MB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, New York NY, US: 401KB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, Seattle WA, US: 1009KB/s

Download speed from Linode, Atlanta GA, US: 577KB/s

Download speed from Linode, Dallas TX, US: 740KB/s

Download speed from Linode, Fremont CA, US: 2.90MB/s

Download speed from Linode, Newark NJ, US: 415KB/s

Download speed from Peer1, Fremont CA, US: 2.54MB/s

@netadmin This is a new server setup which your are currently on, It looks like it was mistakenly put on a 100Mbit switch, But this will be upgraded later on today by 4Pm LA time when our Tech arrives at coresite, Also we have Multiple ISPs binded, Tinet and NTT so it shouldn't be bad connection outside of LA, But we will look at this as we are the ticket you made with us, however we are sorry for any inconvenience coursed.

  • @MonsterR Well, I will run a new benchmark when the port speed is upgraded but I must say that even on a 100 Mbps performances much are lower than expected. Here are the results for the same benchmark run from an Urpad VPS in LA (BlackLotus) 0.5 ms from yours:

    Download speed from CacheFly: 90.5MB/s

Download speed from Colo@, Atlanta GA, US: 8.24MB/s

Download speed from EvoSwitch, Manassas VA, US: 18.5MB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, Chicago IL, US: 12.3MB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, Denver CO, US: 17.6MB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, Los Angeles CA, US: 72.2MB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, New York NY, US: 1.10MB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, Seattle WA, US: 16.2MB/s

Download speed from Linode, Atlanta GA, US: 18.8MB/s

Download speed from Linode, Dallas TX, US: 23.7MB/s

Download speed from Linode, Fremont CA, US: 55.4MB/s

Download speed from Linode, Newark NJ, US: 8.24MB/s

Download speed from Peer1, Atlanta GA, US: 10.4MB/s

Download speed from Peer1, Fremont CA, US: 54.9MB/s

Download speed from Peer1, Los Angeles CA, US: 94.0MB/s

Download speed from Peer1, Miami FL, US: 18.4MB/s

Download speed from Peer1, San Antonio TX, US: 14.2MB/s

Download speed from Peer1, Washington DC, US: 5.18MB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas TX, US: 17.1MB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, Houston TX, US: 20.6MB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, San Jose CA, US: 62.8MB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, Seattle WA, US: 26.4MB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, Washington DC, US: 16.3MB/s

Download speed from iWeb, Montreal QC, CA: 5.61MB/s

That's quiet bad even on 100 Mbit port.

  • @budi1413 @netadmin MB/s is a smaller version of Mb/s. The value of MB/s would have to x 8 to get Mb/s, But the issue last night we had an abusive customer on a dedicated, Which was sending outbound SYN FLOOD traffic. The customer has been taken care of and this has been solved. The server has also been upgraded to 1Gbit Port. Sorry for any inconvenience coursed.

@Monster We all know the difference between MB/s and Mb/s. There isn't any confusion here. Here are the benchmark results run at 06:30 this morning on the 1 Gbps port. Peering in LA is acceptable but to other destinations it is much lower than one would expect. Clearly you have a very limited bandwidth available or another abusing customer (see the comparison with Urpad in my previous post):

    Download speed from CacheFly: 39.4MB/s

Download speed from Colo@, Atlanta GA, US: 627KB/s

Download speed from EvoSwitch, Manassas VA, US: 489KB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, Chicago IL, US: 515KB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, Denver CO, US: 623KB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, Los Angeles CA, US: 31.1MB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, New York NY, US: 450KB/s

Download speed from FDCServers, Seattle WA, US: 1.15MB/s

Download speed from Linode, Atlanta GA, US: 631KB/s

Download speed from Linode, Dallas TX, US: 745KB/s

Download speed from Linode, Fremont CA, US: 2.76MB/s

Download speed from Linode, Newark NJ, US: 400KB/s

Download speed from Peer1, Atlanta GA, US: 634KB/s

Download speed from Peer1, Fremont CA, US: 2.67MB/s

Download speed from Peer1, Los Angeles CA, US: 30.8MB/s

Download speed from Peer1, Miami FL, US: 511KB/s

Download speed from Peer1, San Antonio TX, US: 820KB/s

Download speed from Peer1, Washington DC, US: 487KB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas TX, US: 873KB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, Houston TX, US: 796KB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, San Jose CA, US: 3.24MB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, Seattle WA, US: 1.15MB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, Washington DC, US: 452KB/s

Download speed from iWeb, Montreal QC, CA: 406KB/s

Download speed from OVH, Beauharnois QC, CA: 447KB/s
