LigaHosting down for days (weeks?) ... how often does this happen?

I don't log in to LigaHosting's client area unless I need to pay. I have been trying to log in to pay but cannot. According to
Down for Everyone or Just Me for LigaHosting.ro
they are down. My VPS is still running but I cannot pay to renew it. I'm not sure I want to pay to renew it fortunately I was just trying them out but have had good service for several months so far. I think their other services were getting attacked at times. Maybe that is part of it.

Is this sort of thing common on LowEndBox deals you find?

  • According to OGF, signs are not good, and you should restore from backpack and move to somewhere else.
There nodes are still accessible via IP though.

It's quiet a serious problem. How can they receive emails when their server is down?

Yes, unfortunately. It's up to the client to do their due dilligence before signup. "Good deals" are only good if they stay up and running. If a price seems to good to be true, it likely is. Stick with an established, reputable provider and the small premium you'll pay will pay off when it "just works."

Yeah, that is what I figured. I decided to try them out and see how it went with a few domains pointed at my IP. I kind of had a feeling this may happen. Glad to see some options listed in your sig. I'll be checking a few out. I've been with Vultr forever but figured I'd see what small companies are out there to try :-)

Hopefully you didn't lose a large sum and it was just an inexpensive lesson learned!

Vultr is the most rock solid host I've been with. 5+ years, haven't had a single second of downtime knocks on wood

The other companies are great though. I use them all and I wouldn't put them in the sig if I didn't personally use and vouch for them.

Curious which DC, Vultr has always been the least reliable out of the "midsized three" cloud providers (DO, Vultr, Linode)

I'd assume their flagship location. Vultr was started by the owner of Choopa and their "flagship" location is the Piscataway, NJ and they probably spend most of their resources on that location.

    Well I jumped to conclusions.

With every other company, 60% of the time, every time, I'm part of the "affected customer" segment of whatever's going on.

I know Vultr = Choopa/Constant (they rebranded iirc) but their NJ location seemed to be the least stable one. Guessing it's because they have the most "legacy" infra there, most of the new POPs were designed for Vultr. I just remember constant network maintenance in NJ with ~15-30m downtimes each time. This was back in 2020 so maybe they improved?

I'm definitely not out any money. They only accepted month to month payments which is partly why I figured I'd give them a try for such a good deal. Oh well. On to the next :-)
