I'm currently researching the most effective methods for sending bulk text messages and would greatly appreciate your insights. Specifically, I'm interested in comparing Application-to-Person (A2P) messaging and Shortcodes to determine which approach is the best fit for businesses and organizations.

It depends very much on your use case. Are your recipients subscribed to advertising texts, or are you sending transactional SMS messages (order confirmations, appointment reminders, etc.)? Are you just sending, or also receiving texts?
