ADTAQ VPS AND VINTAGE EXOTIC SPORTS CARS

Come for the off color jokes, stay for the best value in VPS products anywhere

Tally-ho my deal searching brethren,

My apologies for being away for an extended period, as Lance and I had to make time for this photo shoot in front of the data center. The PR team says we need to "make the brand more personal and relatable to customers" so we decided to put down the fiber and screwdrivers for a minute and step outside for an impromptu photo. We've been working hard on some great new stuff that we are excited to announce here today!

Summertime is in full effect, and with it comes the long time tradition of bags full of wieners and playing cornhole in the backyard. But enough about the private lives of our bay-area competitors, because once again THERE ARE DEALS TO BE HAD!

10 GIG NVMe IS HERE

That's right fuckface, even though we've dominated the Storage VPS space for a number of weeks, we weren't about to rest on our laurels. We polled the community and they overwhelmingly* told us they wanted cheap NVMe VPS's running on the same network powering ADTAQ's "king shit" Storage platform.

Just for shits and giggles, we decided not to launch just a regular NVMe product but make it a 10 GIGABIT NVMe VPS in an effort to stand out from the crowd a little. As usual, we won't be the cheapest, but if you want a truly fast NVMe VPS that is not over provisioned on a network that doesn't blow ass, we are probably exactly what you are looking for.

ANNUAL DISCOUNTS

I'm realizing that all of this time I have not drawn very much attention to our ANNUAL BILLING option which effectively gives you two months free service per year. I promise to include that price in everything we list here going forward so SORRY.

* technically they voted for a dogshit $1/mo VPS that is always sold out, so while we continue work on that we figured we would deliver on the second highest item

Good catch, that was left over from the previous 2.5 Gbit sales copy. Updated the post to remove "dedicated".

I would love to actually provide dedicated 10G to everyone. If sales continue to roll in perhaps we can do that in the future.

  • 16 cores, so that means that say you filled a CPU with your VPS 2 plan. You have said they are dedicated CPU's so that's 8 VPS on a single CPU so $80 per CPU. You expect people to believe you are settling for $80 revenue p/m. This is before any costs?

these are 50 dollar cpu's and the DC is in an area that has fairly cheap electricity (according to google it's 5 cents a kWh)

I just don't believe they are dedicated, Chassis cost, Ram cost, disk cost, CPU, Wattage, Bandwidth, IP costs, and license costs no way they are dedicated.

  • ADTAQADTAQ Member, Patron Provider

I'm not really a hardware guy so I was assuming 1 vCPU per thread would be considered dedicated. If that's wrong then I'll take responsibility and correct it going forward.

With dual CPUs that gives me 56 threads on this system, and only the lucky few here get the low rates advertised; regular price is double that.

If I end up getting low revenue because everyone here buys them up, then I guess that's a learning experience :)

    2.5 cents / kWh

I will correct you, if you have a CPU that has 16 cores, you can only sell 16 cores and call them dedicated. When you say dedicated it means someone should be able to use that core at 100% usage 100% of the time. If you sell more than 16 cores then not everyone can use their core 100% of the time, it is shared.

When providers use vCPU it's a thread

That's very established at this point

So a dedicated thread = 1 Dedicated vCPU

I think vCPU should go screw itself and provider should just use "thread" and "core" since the words actually have a definitive meaning

But for now, dedicated vCPU = dedicated thread, at least, assume so if nothing else is stated

Also, the meaning of "dedicated" is different too across providers

Some mean dedicated as in no body will use it

Others mean dedicated as in you're allowed to use as much as you can always, but you might have steal

    It's a mess honestly

But how ADTAQ is advertisting it, that's the norm. Nothing weird going on

Semantics aside, we are trying to offer a premium product. If performance starts to suck based on 1 thread = 1 vCPU we will buy another server and move people over to it.

Does intranet bandwidth (i.e.: NVMe VM A <> Storage VM B connectivity) count against the quota? Is there local networking capability? Seems like an interesting solution to a problem/question I don't have.

Edit: Also, very curious and interesting to see NVMe systems running a generation behind Storage systems on the CPU front. No question on this, just a curious observation.

By default bandwidth between instances is counted against the quota, but we can certainly throw together a local network to bypass that for anyone that needs it.

I actually just added the Custom Business Solutions section for people looking to do this sort of thing.

A small feedback -- not intended to be a negative downer or anything -- but I think the bar is slightly higher with established players (think mega AWS/Azure/GCP; mid tier DO/Linode/Vultr; low end BuyVM) generally offering intranet capability out of the gate.

I think custom end-to-end solutions where people need VPCs, load balancers, firewall etc. are still valid (well, the bar for some degree of firewall/DDoS mitigation is also going up, but that's neither here nor there), but allowing services talk to each other internally might be something you want to eventually offer out of the box, like other more established players.
