PSA: Ivacy VPN Lifetime Sub from 2018 was renewed free of charge

edited July 2023 in General

The moment finally came and my lifetime sub from my Ivacy account from 2018 hit the 5 year mark.
When I logged in, the subscription showed as expired, so I received a ticket and, fair enough, my sub was renewed until 2028 free of charge.

Dear Esteemed Customer,

Thank you for reaching out. We understand how
you feel about the situation and we're sorry for the trouble this has caused.

You are requested to please log out from the application and then try to re-login to the application and then check the same and share the feedback with us.

Feel free to contact us for further assistance.
Regards
Ivacy Customer Success Team

Not sure if they re-activated the sub on their end, or it was really linked to re-login, but it works now :)

I also asked if I could contact them again for free renwal on 2028 and they confirmed.

    Who owns Ivacy?

Edit: Says on the site PMG Pte. Ltd. PMG Pte. Ltd seems to be a shell company owned by Pakistani company Gaditek.

    About Pakistan:

the freedom of speech is restricted through censorship of media as well as censorship of the Internet. In Pakistan, several media forms have been banned either temporarily or permanently - These include YouTube, Flickr, Facebook, Telegram, WhatsApp, and other social networking sites, apart from encyclopaedias such as Wikipedia, which also faced bans.

Funny how they choose a country like that for the most privacy oriented product there is

They probably renewed/re-activated it on their end (manually) since you've reached out and since they did instruct customers to do so.

After 5 years, please reach out to [email protected] to renew your subscription free of charge.

I'm sure lots of people would've forgotten about this if they're not actively utilizing the service

I was shocked to see when I visited the Ivacy website a hit from my password manager, which, when I logged in, shows I ordered a lifetime account too. :joy:

That's a growing problem for every VPN to be honest. Sites are blocking non-residential IPs, which basically means VPNs and VPSs.

That said, I'm also seeing some issues with their US proxy servers (basically the Chrome extension) in the last couple of days. Not sure what's going on but the fact that you can't specify certain locations within the US is preventing a workaround outside of just using Canada.

Yeah, pretty much would I would think, too.
To be fair, that's fine. As long as they actually renew any lifetime subs that send in a request for renewal. It was indeed written in the product description :D

  • @Ympker How is your Ivacy sub going after the whole ordeal with PureVPN?

PureVPN app works fine for me so far. Preferred the Ivacy app though :) Renewal is 2028 iirc. Will see if they renew free of charge then.

How did you set up PureVPN? For me the only option is to input a credit card or Paypal and even then, they don't accept it.

I think it depends whether above the paypal/cc "box" it shows remaining subscription time. If it doesn't (which happened with my old lifetime sub and also to my friend), it likely means you already asked for a free renewal after 5 years once and Purevpn now wants you to pay (or force payment infol). For me, it showed subscription time remaining until 2028, so I was able to click PayPal tab, not enter any info except new clientarea pw and proceed transferring the acc. That's just a guess, of why it doesn't work for you, though.

I think I'm probably running into the same issue you and your friend had on the other account. I don't remember if I asked for a renewal, but it is likely yes.

I just receive this when trying to put payment info on Paypal:

"Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later or contact our support team for assistance."

I will probably need to reach out to PureVPN support as Ivacy is basically dead now, can't do anything in my account besides logging in, everything else redirect to the announcement page.

Yeah, sounds like you'd need to ask PureVPN what you can do about this, or reach out to Ivacy first, ask for free renewal and then transfer. At this point contacting PureVPN is probably more useful though. Hope you saved your invoice. Login to Ivacy Dashboard is no longer possible

Good luck, mate! Let us know how things go :)

  • Just changed my account over to PureVPN. Had to make a password but I did not put in any CC information and it seems to have worked. Only showing 4 years left on the "subscription" but I put a ticket in and will see what happens.

Does anyone know if PureVPN is actually any good? If they suck I may just say fuck it and let the loss be a loss, lol. But if they are decent it would be nice to have my lifetime account still!

Given that Ivacy was allegedly reselling PureVPN (even before you could use ivacy ovpn username and pw with purevpn ovpn config files), you should get same performance, but even more locations/servers, as PureVPN probably restricted resellers in terms of server amout/location. That said, I preferred the Ivacy app.
