    Tips: Stay away from DEDIPATH.

    I bought a windows VPS with an annual subscription($24). But the loss packets more than 15% at almost any moment was unbearable, and then they offered to switch me to another area (actually the packet loss started again after a month), I accepted, and rebuilt the system and stored some information. After about 2 months, I found that I could not log in until I realized that I needed to provide the management password for them to manually switch IP addresses. I was very dissatisfied and did not want to provide the password for anyone to log in and view my data. So I asked PAYPAL to dispute the refund. In the process of dispute, DediPath directly deleted the VPS in the account, and the dispute failed with terms such as TOS not guaranteeing online rate. I'm just telling the truth and not recommending it to anyone.

    I beg to differ here, Dedipath has good reputation and are always cooperative, specially @Ernie being helpful. Although I haven't directly interacted with him but I am speaking on the basis of lots of dedis, VMs we manage and are on Dedipath infra. Although sometimes their support takes time and have to make little extra efforts to make them understand but always we get things right with them.

    Thank you so much for the kind words.

    Well, this will get your service/account canceled with any provider

  • I've been with DediPath since 2019, in 4 different DCs total with 3 currently active. As @Saahib mentioned, support could take some effort but issues were always resolved.
    More recent events...are different, and I am now looking at other colo & VPS providers myself.

    @liumw did you offer to update the IP info yourself so they wouldn't have to get into your OS? It is very standard for a host to request access to the system to resolve an issue or help you resolve an issue that is outside their IaaS responsibility. They are requesting access. There are other ways to have resolved the issue. Why host with a company you fear will access your data or snoop around?

    The IP is dead and I can't manage the windows server via RDP. The desktop has a backup of my keypass (I treat it as remote storage, low frequency, occasional access to GPT-4), and can also be opened with the system login password. so when they ask for my password, I can't stand their unstable service. Maybe I had too high expectations at the beginning.

    Since this was a dead thread and it's still on your mind...

    You in the market for something to replace it? Certainly there's someone else here that could fulfill your needs. Just keep in mind if you do that PayPal stunt again, you'll end up on a provider blacklist.

    For dedis similar in price -

    @crunchbits - https://crunchbits.com/dedicated#Plans
    @MrRadic - https://www.reliablesite.net/dedicated-servers/
    @NetDynamics24 - https://www.netdynamics24.com/client/order.php?step=1&productGroup=10
    @fiberstate - https://fiberstate.com/dedicated-servers/

    I haven't deal with the last 3, but they have great prices and I've seen nothing but positive reviews from therm here.

    And for VPS, I'd recommend anything in my signature. They're about everywhere geographically, so if you have a budget/location in mind, I could steer you in the right direction.

  • Provided faulty VPS and now I am asking for replacement, they don't reply. Worst customer support.

    I beg to differ here, Dedipath of 2023 is slow to respond, communicates poorly, and they always seem to be taken by surprise when you notify them of outages rather than them knowing when their network switch goes down for example. You'd think they have at least an uptime monitor on that sucker.

    There's numerous network outages and poor network performance in the NJ datacenter but only the multiple-day outages make it in the service status page. That's dishonest in my book. If you have a crap network people should know what they're getting into.

    If their reputation was good, then unfortunately it has come to an end. I'm looking at alternatives myself, it's very much not worth the money I pay even in a lowend type market, especially given that I use at most 5% of the resources allotted per month.
