We use DediPath's network, but we own our hardware.

  • I prefer kvm...ovz no

  • Hello there, I bought one, and as I see it's working fast and for now the resources are dedicated for now. Later I will post some benchmark, and I will benchmark evry month to see if any changes in performance, I installed netdata and vestacp. All good by now. The administrator of the server responds quick to my ticket so all good.

  • I didn't ask if they support Ipv6, will be great if they have to add one to my vz server.

With much regret, we had to disable IPv6 support.

This is due to a bug in the latest OpenVZ 7 kernel (3.10.0-1160.80.1.vz7.191.4) which was released back in December 2022.

Other providers have noticed the same problem: https://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1890578&p=10391419#post10391419

Exactly when IPv6 support will return, I am not sure - it sadly may be a case of waiting until OpenVZ 9 matures a bit more, which we do plan on updating to next year when OpenVZ 7 is EOL.

What's wrong with OVZ? Except for cases where a custom kernel module is needed, OVZ has the advantage of not having:

    • a bootloader
    • a filesystem
    • disk partitions

which don't have to be configured, maintained or fsck'ed.
I still have a 4GB OVZ plan from ChicagoVPS that works well.

If it hasn't changed, I personally stay away from OpenVZ because of this.

OpenVZ can be oversold. Overselling is when a VPS provider sells more resources than >are physically available on the server. This can lead to performance issues for users, as >they may not be able to get the full amount of resources they have paid for.

I don't keep track of news about some technology, so I don't know if this is the case anymore.

  • @Nanja I've read that this is true for KVM/QEMU too, as the hypervisors allocate into virtual memory that may or may not be provided by the host hardware.

  • @EthernetServers time for KVM. this is the journey many successful providers undertake when they start from OVZ.

    OpenVZ 7 uses QEMU - https://wiki.openvz.org/QEMU

  • Ethernet server, many client prefer kvm, why don't you offer kvm vps with the same price ?

I will rent 1 from you

  • No need to argue for trusting over better than kvm

  • Is the "2 Dedicated IPv4 Addresses" accurate? I'm only seeing a venet0 on mine. But its probably just me being blind stupid. I got

You have to contact support to get the 2nd ipv4 assigned. In the times I’ve had to contact them to get it done they usually respond within 5 mins, very good support
