which datacenters allow running cryto (especially Bitcoin) nodes (not mining)?

comXyzcomXyz Member

It looks like people having problems running crypto nodes and got their servers suspended even if not mining anything.

Are there any datacenters that allow running cryto (especially Bitcoin) nodes, just to verify transactions and blocks?

  • Reliablesite allows crypto stuff if you pay a $100/mo. fee

Most of the time the bitcoin node (not mining) it self just takes quite a bit of CPU from the beginning and then levels out.
BUT IT does take QUITE a bit of STORAGE.

I would allow it. But would like to know about it so we don't go ham on your machine.

UNLESS its on a RPiServers then have fun!

I don't wanna pay that fee, the fee is for mining, but I'm not mining at all.

  • Maybe can bug @SmartHost ?

  • Most DataCentres don't impose restrictions on what hardware within their facilities are used for, providing it is in compliance with local laws, etc. Are you referring to datacentre restrictions or restrictions imposed by hosting providers?

If you are looking for a hosting provider for this, we allow crypto / BTC on our hardware, providing you remain within the listed (30TB) Bandwidth limits

We do not have a restriction against Crypto, mining or otherwise. When you rent a dedicated server from us, you can fully utilize it 24/7 as it is dedicated to you.

Great, I do have a server with you, so I can start playing around.

Unfortunately nothing to do with local law, just certain providers do restrict due to hardware abuse. Now the question: what make difference if your very busy WordPress website is using 24/7 100% CPU and 90% network port on your dedicated server or crypto node?

That's going to bite you in the butt once you get a bunch of faulty hardware.

We used to allow it until we had far too many nodes start having issues, then, unfortunately, had to hit the hammer on allowing it.

We have no such restrictions on our Dedicated Servers as well - https://alphavps.com/dedicated-servers.html . We have plenty of people ordering big clusters for running crypto nodes. No mining, though.

Strange, you say that you are not a bulletproof hosting and you are on the bulletproof hostings list. If you are not bulletproof hosting then blink twice.

I doubt the validity of this list. I see several providers on this list that in my opinion do not fall under "bulletproof hosting". Or my definition of bulletproof hosting differs.

That fee is not a mining fee, it's a crypto fee, applies to any validators, miners, etc.

Most hosts shouldn't have a problem if you are wanting to run validators. I suggest just being upfront with a host about that as you will typically want to ensure you have proper NVMe drives rated to support that. It does use typically more power than an average use case. So some providers might charge an extra fee due to the extra costs in power and use on the equipment.

It does not seem to be a "Bulletproof" list by that meaning either.

We do. Infact we were one of the very first to accept Bitcoin as payment method.

Most providers allow it, including us.
