AMD Ryzen 7 7700 vs Intel® Core™ i5-13500

Hi All,

I am planning to run K8s on one of these. Which one will be the right choice as I see the pricing of i5 is cheaper than Ryzen 7. Should I go with i5 as it have more cores and cheaper pricing?

Why the Ryzen 7 price is higher even after having less cores than i5. What I am missing here?

Core count is not everything. The Intel Core i5-13500 is split up into into performance and efficiency (efficiency = slower) cores. The i5-13500 has 6 high-performance cores and 8 efficiency cores, while the Ryzen 7 7700 has 8 normal, high-performance cores. The Ryzen 7 7700 also clocks higher (5.30 GHz).

Despite the having the Intel CPU technically having more cores, the Ryzen 7 7700 still beats the i5-13500 in both single core and multi-core Geekbench.

If you're talking about Hetzner here, imo the i5-13500 is more worth is given that the performance is only marginally lower, but the pricing is a lot lower. However, it's important to note that the 7700 has higher NVMe.
