It all depends upon your need for my use case first one will be sufficient for me and better for me.

If its for idling then go with second one

  • I'll happily take a transfer on that i7 server if you decide to get rid of it.

If it's for idling, isn't the first one better? Slightly cheaper, though that depends on the currency exchange rates.

No no no. You idle the most expensive/highest resource one.

    What server do you idle?

Dual Epyc 9654 with 1.5T ram.

Close but because our wordpress blog is averaging 8 visitors a week now, I was getting worried about RAM. It got bumped to 4T as a precaution.

  • 16TB on 10gbit download for 30$ is a really good deal. Can you transfer that if you decide to not keep it?

Yeah, please note that is only for downloading.

  • I'm also interested in the 4x4TB. If you decide to let it go, I'll be happy to take it.

  • I'm a little curious why most of you guys have chosen a server with less storage instead a server with more storage. :)

What usecase you have in your mind?

If you use this server to the max - sending 16TB (4x4TB) from 250Mbit network will take 143 hours (6 full days).

If you want to setup RAID-10 then you have 8TB usable space.

So for 8TB of space you pay $30.
Hetzner Storage Box 10TB is 20 euro and paired with 4euro Hetzner VPS you'll get ~30GB NVMe cache layer + ~10Gbit network speed.
    Faster, more storage, cheaper.

This dedi with 4x4TB is only good if you download a lot, delete most of it and push only some data. There's not a lot usecases for such server.

Whereas dedi with NVMe + i7 8700K will be a lot better for web hosting, transcoding, serving traffic, gaming server, CDN node, splitting up as smaller VPSes.

Go with shared hosting. For your traffic (or lack of it) you'll be much happier and everything will be optimized for you.

  • I think cheaper one

Ok, I haven't slept in 18 hours, so I realize now my posts were answering to the wrong person. Sorry about that.

Yes, I don't want to get my SEO punished. If you are not raw dogging some bare-metal then your visitors are having a subpar experience. A good rule of thumb is 1 core / 256GB ram per visitor.

This is fully optimized for each visitor.

Don't worry, it could be like my Hetzner i9-9900k box (was intended for production, but still just using it for single-client dev testing for a new app as I got busy with other work):
