Webtropia: cheaper than Contabo: 24,99€/mo: 10vCores, 64GB RAM, 400Nvme/1600 SSD, 40TB
Just found this offer by Webtropia/MyLoc after hearing good things about them from @Falzo and they go even cheaper than Contabo:
Webtropia VPS XL: 24,99€/mo
https://www.webtropia.com/vserver.html
10 vCores
64GB RAM
400GB NVME or 1600GB SSD
1 Gbit/s (40TB)
Contabo XL: 31,49€/mo
10 vCores
64GB RAM
400GB NVME or 1600GB SSD (usually throttled SSD)
1 Gbit/s (32TB)
Quite the interesting stuff ;D
Webtropia even gives you a little bit more traffic. Ofc, some other details can differ (there's a long list), but base specs are..good!
Edit :
Seems like all their plans kind of beat Contabo.
Even their smallest plan has 25GB more storage than Contabo, 40TB instead of 32 and 1 Gbit/s instead of 200 Mbit/s.
All plans:
Webtropia:
Note that the plans are also available with SSD instead of Nvme:
Contabo:

yabs
Sponsor and I might do it haha
does Webtropia offer nested virtualization ?
It comes even cheaper with a contract and it doesn't force you to prepay for the whole duration i see.
This might be a great deal
cheaper than contabo?
will the quality be even worse?
do it.
I haven't used them in years, but MyLoc (parent company) is a solid player in german hosting scene and @Falzo seems to be quite happy with Webtropia/MyLoc

Could be great but depends on what kind of CPU they use. Contabo has decent-ish performance with their epyc CPU's. If this deal is with older E5 CPUs then it might be quite meh.
Tempted to buy the small version to check it out.
nah, no fucking way.
i have never used a decent german hosting provider, there was one I liked but it went to shit.
i'm not gambling anymore.
Do it
I did chat with their live chat a bit.

Well, I put in an order but needs verification. If I need to provide ID I probrably won't go through with it since it is just for testing purposes.
Thanks for asking. I added Contabo and Webtropia Plans in OP so one can compare base specs and pricing. I'd argue that even without nested virt, there's lots of use cases for the Webtropia VPS line.
@labze Understandable, albeit ID verification is smth Hetzner/Netcup might also require. Never had to provide my ID for Hetzner, though. Just SEPA was enough.
will do yabs if money is given
but yabs with geekbench 6!
I have asked if I can shortly can delay the verification for testing purposes since they cannot guarantee which specs the server are running. The request has been forwarded by the support. We'll see what they say.
I don't own Webtropia, but here is a Contabo I just yabs for comparison if anyone wanted.
This is Contabo XL with disk upgrade - Idle in Kansas City, MO.
Thanks for letting us know! Their pricing is really great. Would like to see a yabs result of their cloud VPS too.
@ehab will do even more if money is given
hahahahaha
Here's Yabs for couple of their smaller VPS with SSD, they offer NvME as well but haven't tried those (these are from end of last year when I had the servers)
The smaller VPS are much better bang for the buck than Contabo IMO, especially disk wise (which tend to be slow as snails on the Contabo SSD plans)
VPS S
VPS M
Interesting. Seems like the Guaranteed Bandwidth is 100 Mbit for Cloud VPS - https://www.webtropia.com/en/technology/connection.html
Thanks! That's what I figured. With Contabo's (small) plan, I always feel I'd have to pick the NVMe option with less disk space, because their SSDs are often reported to be rather slow (ticket to lift throttling sometimes works, but even then, there are faster SSDs around).
So in that case, it seems with Webtropia you can actually pick SSD and get decent speeds (judging by YABS provided).
Even though 100 Mbit/s is guaranteed (!=max) speed it seems to be a 1 Gbit/s port as @covent yabs shows speeds way higher than 100 Mbit/s.
I'm not sure where that 100 Mbit/s was taken from but I always thought they used at least 1 Gbit/s when I was using them. I think they list 1 Gbit/s on their VPS page though (it's a tooltip when you hover mouse over "Traffic")

It also says 1000 Mbit/s in the product description (and the tooltip).
If someone is wondering, their BF2022 offer was -10%. The discount was recurring, for upgrades as well
Do they provide snapshot (could not find it) ?
If yes surely going to test them
Yes. From the website
"With the included snapshot backup, you can create a 1:1 image of your Cloud VPS. It can happen that certain software updates cause errors and lead to malfunctions. This means that you always have a backup layer available to which a roll-back is possible."
