Why Providers not use the EU Austria location? What is the reason?

ZweiTigerZweiTiger Member, Host Rep

Hi All,

I always wanted to know what is the reason behind this? Why everyone use the Germany location? And why there almost nothing in the AT location?

Thank You!

We're talking about Austria (AT) here by the way - not Australia (AU).

Well, there might be, but they're probably extremely rare and I doubt they'll be breaking into DCs

Local prices may be too high to compete with Germany, the Netherlands or France. I remember that local prices in Poland were very high a few years ago compared to other countries. Also, local legislation may become a problem for companies offering hosting.

  • Austria is 1/10 the size of Germany and mainly consists of Vienna and some Alpine villages. And there are probably as many DC in Vienna as in Hamburg.

Ouch, poor austrians. I'm sure they're doing better than you describe. After all they're famous for their export hits (world wars that german is blamed for, nationalism, corrupt politicians and superspreader events) not to forget about DJ Ötzi

  • I think it's based on servers prices..

  • I dont think there's any reason to expand into Austria when Germany is like 10ms away.
