  • @seenu said: they usually provide very less storage, how are you using jellyfin with them?

( i was thinking of adding another provider storage as a volume mount in it, so wants to find yours)

    I used two VPS:

First VPS: I installed CasaOS, there I installed the Jellyfin + Cloudflared app (to have SSL on a subdomain), with the operating system plus Jellyfin I used approximately 12 GB of SSD disk. With the Files application I mounted the second VPS using Samba.

Second VPS: Storage VPS (1 TB HDD, 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, from another provider). Here I installed MyVestaCP + Samba

Oh, thanks for the explanation, looking something similar.

does your jellyfin videos requires transcoding while casting? how GCV handling it?

    thanks

I'm not using Greencloud anymore for the first server.

I'm currently using CB -> 3 vCPU, 4.5GB RAM, 125 GB SSD with more MP4 files (they're light for the server) and some MKV files with the default Jellyfin settings.

For the second server, I'm using HH

I've switched to GreenCloud. I’ll share my experience since I made the order yesterday.

    4096MB RAM
    35GB NVMe RAID-10 Hard drive
2 cores @ EPYC Rome CPU
    1 IPv4
    /64 IPv6
    4TB Bandwidth
    10Gbps Port
    Linux OS
    Ashburn, VA Location
    Virtfusion Control Panel
    1 Free Backup/Snapshot
I expected the IP to be in Ashburn, but it ended up being in Chicago DC2

Hey @NDTN -- we have a lot of VPS nodes/services currently with GreenCloud. And it has been an ongoing request from us to get us access to virtfusion panel to manage all our existing GC VPS nodes.

Could you please make things happen to get us a Virtfusion panel access, to manage all our existing VPS. It is much easier to cycle OS reinstalls etc. using virtfusion. Without Virtfusion, the current GC web dashboard is very clunky.

It will be a manual process to migrate from SolusVM to Virtfusion. We have a plan for it in the next months already, starting from our main locations first: LA, SJC, JP, SG, etc. Customers will receive an email when things are ready.

  • @freelanceonline said: Interesting, I was running the test with very small block files (bs=8k).

It's rare that you'll have a large number of writes with such a small block size in real life. For writes that small, you'd care more about IOPS than speed, so if that's your actual use case, you should use a benchmarking tool that shows IOPS.

dd is also unreliable for benchmarking - you should use fio, which is what YABS uses too.

  • Thanks for the review!

I've also purchased one from them during their 11th birthday with the following specs for $33/yr

    6 Core
    6GB RAM
    130GB SSD

Been running all my important stuff there and so far so good.

  • When they give daily or hourly for certain spec would be great. My requirements are daily, as I do training batch of 15 to 25 students, needed vm for each of them 16 to 32 gb depends on course.

I am waiting to grab a deal with greencloud Singapure.

  • I'm pretty happy with GreenCloud, too. The server rocks and the service is always quick and helpful. I wonder if you are going to expand your service to the next level, becoming a TRULY GREEN CLOUD, that is, a cloud with NVDIA GPUs? @NDTN

    Thanked by 1NDTN
  • wallet drained for @NTDN, no regrets. service is remarkable
