Oracle clouds never go down, says Oracle's Larry Ellison

Oracle execs are all smiles following a stellar showing for their cloud operations in the latest full quarter, and Larry Ellison is obviously feeling a little dizzy, telling the world – or anyone who would listen – that Big Red's cloud never fails.

Founder and CTO of the Texas-based business, Ellison bottles the Koolaid he asks employees to drink, but last night on a conference call to discuss earning for Q2 ended 30 November, he appeared to have a bellyful himself.

"Our cloud is very secure and extremely reliable," he told financial analysts. "It doesn't go down."

That's not strictly true. Britain's heatwave in the summer ...

    Cloud is stable as they do have option to cluster to other regions (UK <-> Ireland) but they do shut down servers, just Google the following keywords: oracle, hot summer

  • My Google News feed this morning had a story about how NASA overpaid $15million in licenses they didn't need as the cheaper option than being audited.

    Oracle is a likely influence to Dilbert cartoons. If your government had an epic accounting or payroll fail that lasted for months or years and hundreds of millions over budget, you can bet Oracle was involved.
