Cheapest option to send 5k marketing emails?

I have to send about 5k marketing emails for one promotion.
I will need to run this email campaing only one time. So I need to send 5k emails in total.

What do you think is the cheapest option to achieve this?
I'm thinking abount SES, but are there other good alternatives?

Thank you

Go for it so far so good and dirt cheap!

  • AWS SES is good and cheap, we've sending ~ 40k mails monthly without any issues.

If you already have approved account with SES, its good, else you have to request first to get it out of sandbox. But for 5K mails, SES will not give you trouble.

I think MXroute do not allow marketing emails.

Buy cheapest plan from MXRoute reseller (starts at $2.10), make 25 accounts, send 200 emails from each account at 3am Texas time.
Your service will be terminated for spamming when @jar wakes up the next day, the same domain can never be used on MXRoute again, but the emails are already sent.

  • Elasticemail worked good for me so far

  • Another +1 for AWS SES. We had used it for like 5 years on my old company, and they're still using it, so far so good.

if you use the API it's $1 to send out 5k emails, seems quite cheap to me

I see no good justification for posting this. It details how to attack and potentially damage another member's business.

It's all good. They really can't. The checks and balances I have in place are so good I sometimes get a boner over my own work. Not the weirdest boner I've ever had.

This 'marketing' email. Errrr, is it what others call spam?? It's a strange question to ask on this forum. You want us to help you send 5K spam emails or am I missing something?

  • I am interested too. My wife uses Mailchimp and it's expensive, so I would like a cheaper solution

You could use mxroute and others by sending them over a 5-6 hour period as they allow up to 300 emails per hour. I'm assuming that the emails are legit marketing ones, as If it is spam, there will be a problem, otherwise just do it like this.

They are legitimate marketing emails from my wife's shop, but I am not going to use a service that forbids anything other than transactional

hi, do you need to have EC2 right to be able to use SES? If not, how do you access that? API or SMTP?

No, You can use each other provider even like oracle (free tier) 😉 but exists additional charges of attachments transfer? Depends of use case, for transactional emails we've use SMTP and for marketing emails API behind listmonk. For first time you need contact with support to unlock yours account from sandbox, API keys you can generate in AWS console IAM.

Stay with mailchimp (the king in that segment).
Assuming you are doing actual marketing with it. Plus you get lot more features that are key to marketing. If you are doing transactional then you are probably using the mandrill addon of mailchimp.

  • Why not send them from your own computer?

Time ago I used to send up to 700 emails every few months from my gmail account via exim4 without any systemic anti-spam issues, only a few recipients had problems with an aggressive spam filter, but those were outliers. It takes a few minutes to send hundreds of individual emails, each destined to a single recipient.

Sending emails from your own domain name is identical to the above, but requires an SPF tag on the domain. Takes 2 minutes to configure.

  • https://www.mail.baby/ should work for it, they will let you know when your mails are too shit to be delivered.
also they are very inexpensive and the quality is there.

I'd phrase that more as "allows anything but marketing" since there's so much more than just marketing or transactional, but that's just me being anal ♥️
