How do you use your storage vps ?

I bought 1 core, 1 gb ram storage vps from liteserver,
played with sonarr, radarr, setup whole automatic anime shit, and it worked, but watching on jellyfin stuttering because of vps and hdd performance, lol.
So what else u can install on storage vps ?
does nextcloud work nicely on 1gb ram ?
it looks heavy to me, still considering filerun and seafile, need more suggestions.

  • I use Serverica Polar VPS for remote backup of my servers.

  • One for backup, another one for backup of backup

I go with rsync , sftp and FTPS though

  • Install Plex instead and turn off transcoding. Works better than Jellyfin for mobile/TV app playback.

I have about six small vpss each with one and two terabyte and each have 2 gigs of RAM and decent upload speeds, they're used with a dedicated server with 2 x 2tb ssd and 128gb ram that has 100 terabytes of bandwidth and 1Gbit dedicated port and I use this software: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/165913/i-wrote-a-shell-script-that-turns-spare-vps-into-a-cdn-node-in-one-click/p1

  • I also have a 1 core, 1GB RAM, with 1TB disk storage VPS. I use it as a secondary backup of some of my data. I am using rclone to access it, and using the rclone's encryption module, so the data is encrypted before it gets to this VPS. I can either move data with rclone using the sftp module, or use rclone to remotely mount the data storage as a file system. I like that rclone is very light weight.

  • Plex works fine on TV app and browser, but IIRC it require plex pass or one time purchase to stream on phone. I'd use Plex because "it just works"

Seeding the long-term Torrents of Private Trackers, mostly idle and monthly traffic gets to around 1 TB only

Swizzin script works super with the task

  • yoursunnyyoursunny Member, IPv6 Advocate

Mentally strong people don't use Plex or Jellyfin.
rclone serve http and paste link into VLC Android.

I forget that swizzin exist, I install 1 by 1 like a mad dog, it seems like there's another script that works the same way as swizzin, but I forget.

    There's no home theater PC.
I play content on Amazon Fire 8 HD (2020) tablet, and occasionally on cellphone if the tablet is charging.

The HTTP server isn't exposed to public Internet.
It is accessed over Wireguard VPN only.

    Yes, for every episode:

    1. Turn on Wireguard app.
    2. Search for torrent.
    3. Open qBittorrent WebUI, paste magnet link.
    4. When download finishes, open rclone serve http page, copy link.
    5. Open VLC app, paste link.
    6. Watch.
    7. If bitrate exceeds 54 Mbps and network congestion causes playback interruption, SSH into the server and run ffmpeg to downscale.
    8. Open qBittorrent WebUI, delete file.
    9. Turn off Wireguard app.

    Step 4 and 5 don't happen consecutively.
Usually I download one episode and watch the previous episode, so that I don't need to wait for the download.

Step 7 was possible on PulsedMedia.
Now I use iHostART 50 GB, not enough CPU for ffmpeg.
Instead, I run rclone mount on a local desktop, invoke ffmpeg on this desktop, and then run rclone serve http on the output folder so that I can watch from the tablet.

Sadly, he's not. My sickchill has just under 200 shows at any time. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Watching TV on a tablet as a primary source? I just can't even... big screen TV's can be had from Wal-Mart and Amazon for under $300 every year.

Ever see those commercials where they show a kid who is lazy and doesn't want to do chores and grows up and becomes the engineer that solves problems for NASA? That's not yoursunny.

You put your shows into sickchill or flexget. It sends the magnet link to qbittorrent. You use free socks5 proxy from VPN Unlimited on any VPS with space. You sync file to home PC using syncthing or Resilio. You delete it from your Amazon stick using samba to the sync share.

You youngin's don't remember TV as a kid where you just turned on the TV and just sat down. It should always be that easy.

    My procedure is 100% legit.
I've been doing this since 2021 when I cancelled Prime and bought PulsedMedia.

It gets annoying if I'm trying to play music, because I would have to copy-paste the link every 3 minutes instead of every 30~45 minutes.
Hence, I satisfy music needs by searching on YouTube, not downloading torrent.
I also have a small connection of purchased music (as in, my family owns the CD-ROMs), re-encoded to 64 Kbps and copied into an iPod Nano.

My apartment is small and I don't have space or power socket for TV.
Moreover, I prefer watching TV while lying on bed or while cooking/eating in kitchen, instead of standing in front of a TV at a fixed location.

Ever see those commercials where they show a kid who is lazy and doesn't want to do chores and grows up and becomes the engineer that solves problems for NASA? That's not yoursunny.

I could spend 3 days making a script that automates the download, or I could spend 30 seconds searching EZTV while sitting on the toilet.

You are burning SSD write cycles.
FBI knocks on your door and finds pirated content in your house.

I don't write to my own SSD in most cases.
My content is stored in Romania most of the time.
FBI doesn't usually care about streaming.

You youngin's don't remember TV as a kid where you just turned on the TV and just sat down. It should always be that easy.

I have to wait for 19:30 every weeknight.
If I forget, I have to call my classmate and ask them what's in the episode, but cannot watch it anymore.
