This seems to be a better option https://github.com/AppFlowy-IO/AppFlowy
However, I use https://obsidian.md/ anyway. Prefer local first approach for performance. Then use git to sync with mobile
While not an 100% equivalent, you could use a private (meaning just yourself) Wiki-style site, or a Nextcloud server with the Notes app. It isn't a 100% Evernote clone though.
Try https://www.getoutline.com/
I am using this one for note-taking. Unfortunately, there is no mobile app.
Do you have it setup with password based authentication? I remember trying to try/setup this a while ago but it only supported SSO/3rd party login based authentication, but there was a patch which allowed enabling password based authentication.
Joplin, since what you describe is Joplin’s mission.
Or Obsidian.
These are self-hosted in the sense you can sync with Dropbox, etc.
I like Obsidian.
Just found this https://silverbullet.md/ not exactly an alternative but pretty great
Are you looking for an alternative to Evernote, or a self hosted alter to Evernote?
Latter has been answered well - Joplin is awesome .
Other options to consider are Standard Notes and Trillium. The more, the merrier list is here

I only wish they had a web version.
Vote for Obsidian as well!
I used Auth0 as I already using it some other places.
https://joplinapp.org/
has android/ios apps and joplin server.
Something from this list might suit you:

Notepad++
Secure, self-hosted and offline (if you want).
