Digitalocean care about warez download?

Im going to buy a Digitalocean vps and use it as a vpn. I know DO care about DMCA, if i use torrent can shut down my VPS but im not use torrent. Just download warez movies from web sites, maybe file sharing site, download mp3...DO allow this or same reaction with torrenting?

Violating US copyright law on their platform will be a violation of their terms, and if they find out about it they are obligated to put a stop to it.

You know, it's better not to ask for permission to privately break the law.

  • If you use download websites instead of torrents it's less likely DO will receive a DMCA notification for your DO ip.

But for your VPN purpose I would just buy a commercial VPN or set up one with another provider that's outside the US.

Of course, since DigitalOcean HQ is in New York, they must obey to DMCA Notices and futher DMCA reports.

Just because is 5€ for month? You can have that for less or equal that allows or ignore dmca

Take a look in those providers that ignore dmca, pretty sure that matches your budget!

  • Why do you want to do it on a VPS?
If you want just download some things, use VPN instead of VPS.

If you want to download much, there are also seed boxes on the market.
Check this website to compare prices and specs.

  • Would you ask the owner of a building if you can lease their space to set up a meth lab?

Well, it's easier to get a copyright complaint than it is being caught making a meth lab.

Well, it's easier to get a copyright complaint than it is being caught making a meth lab.

    Which makes it even crazier.

  • That’s simply, if they receive DMCA notice they suspended you, but if they don’t…

If you are just downloading from a website, most probably no problem.

  • Digital Ocean's cheapest package is $4, while Windscribe's Build-A-Plan is $3 a month (no long-term commitment). Unless you're going to use the VPS for other purposes or want a static IP, a commercial VPN gets you more features (can switch to different countries at will, torrent anything), and more bandwidth (practically unlimited) for less money.

  • You should open a ticket with DigitalOcean Support and ask them just to be sure.

We setup our math lab in the building adjacent to the police station.
Proverb says: 灯下黑, the area right under an oil lamp is dark.
The police will never think about anyone running a math lab next to the police station.

When I was in college, I had a summer job in a small rural town. That was a long time ago.

The talk of the town that summer was how someone had planted marijuana in the planter box that went around the perimeter of the regional police station (barracks). The gardeners tended the plants until they got between knee and waist high.

It was a small rural town, so everyone knew about it, other than the state police officers. Everyone had a great time with it, wondering when they would finally wake up and smell the ... err ... pot.

Finally some spoilsport told the police about it and the planter box was quickly replanted with flowers.
