IMHO I'll start finding it more compelling once it can work with rclone.

Been using Filen for a little while, seems nice and I got a BF lifetime offer. Desktop app (Windows) needs a little bit of work, but is OK and it seems very active.
If I purchase a lifetime subscription through the affiliate link will I receive the GB of the lifetime plan + 10GB?
I wish I wasn't asking such a question but... how TF does the links work?

If you mean the referral links above, you should follow them and then sign up under them. If you've signed up previously it won't have any effect - just new users. You can go to your account and share your own link with other new users though to claim space.

It's mind boggling to me how so many are ok to sync personal info on the cloud. Why would you backup to a cloud based company and not create your own?

I like it, but I'm a sucker for lifetime cloud storage. :-) Just like I don't need to use another program (cryptomator or rclone) to encrypt my data before uploading it to Filen.
