PHP-FRIENDS increases prices

Looks like server price increases in European regions are inevitable. https://php-friends.de has also joined the bandwagon along with Hetzner, Scaleway, and DO.

Prices now are

S - €8.99 (up from €7.99)
M - €16.99 (up from €14.99)
L - €27.99 (up from €24.99)
XL - €44.99 (up from €39.99)

  • Some providers had their advantage solely in cheap price. If that advance is gone - it is only the matter of time when they flop in loss of customers to bigger players with the same price range.

It may be a good choice, but they are now OUT of Stock!

  • It seems inevitable for European providers.

Operating on loss might flop even earlier because especially smaller providers are unlikely to have large amounts of money to burn.
So there is not really a choice.

But if everyone is raising their prices, won't the cheap price guys still be "cheap" in comparison?

The price for power in EU has increased significantly. To have a healthy profit they have to increase the pricing so that they can sustain

Probably almost every provider (in Europe) will have to adjust their prices at the current times - sooner or later. The current energy crisis is a challenge for many. Furthermore, we try not to have to increase our existing customers, but the extent for next year is not yet fully known, so we can not yet make a statement. At the moment (!) our goal is to waive any price adjustments for existing contracts, so that only new orders are affected, but this has to be calculated once we know all prices for at least 2023.

And this affects many, whether it is a Hetzner, an OVH or even many smaller providers who offer their services. According to current estimates and the documents available to us, it is to be expected that electricity prices will fall again in 2024, but we are not responsible for purchasing electricity; instead, we have to rely on the consultants of the data center operator. We already had a significant increase in energy costs starting at 01.01.2022 (these were associated with additional costs of several thousand euros per month) which we did not forward to customers, not even to colocation / housing customers, but that was before the energy crisis even began.
