Good quality VPS with affordable storage
Hi
I am looking for a good affordable VPS (around 15-20$ for the VPS itself) close to what you can get with Netcup (VPS 1000) or Hetzner cloud for that money. But with affordable extra storage.
Block storage with Hetzner is 40$ for 1 TB and Netcup's storage line is very low spec.
BuyVM is great and has affordable storage but their VPS for 15$ is only 4GB of ram, while netcup has double ram, half price.
Only viable option so far is Contabo...
Or attaching a Storage box to a Hetzner Cloud instance (but might be slow, or I/o limited so I prefer normal storage)
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

What about getting dedi?

for $19 you have 4 core Xeon, 16GB DDR3, 2x2TB HDD, 1Gbps
RAID Mirror ZFS, 4GB for ARC cache and you're set.
Definitely a valid option on the list in addition to Netcup VPS and contabo
If you want to serve bigger files then remember that 1Gbps is just 125MB/s max.
Single HDD can handle it. Mirroring it doubles IO, ZFS caches most used blocks.
It will be very fast system with no CPU steal ever, no throttle.
If you do strip instead of mirror you will also double throughput, 300MB/s+ possible then Also whole 4TB will be available then.
All installed locally, lowest latency, no noisy neighbors
Very valid points actually @AXYZE. Thanks

@afn Care to provide clear spec you looking for?

Chad, you could wait for Virmach's BF Dedi discount if you don't mind outdated E3
