Required for setting up miner: 1 vCore, 1 GB RAM, 40 GB hard drive for $12/y

I am looking for a low-end box with the specifications that I have mentioned in the subject. Does anyone know of any?

  • The end is nigh on this one.

  • 1 core, 1gb ram, 40gb storage for $12 a year. Is this possible? Probably.

Miner? Uh. Let me introduce you to virtualbox.

Welcome to LET and congrats on your first post btw.

Not sure I understand the connection between a miner and a virtualbox. Are you saying I should set up a virtual machine on my local computer? If yes, I can't do that because this project requires a public IP address, which I do not have.

And thanks for the welcome! Glad to be here; though I have known LEB and LET for almost a decade now.

I may be flexible with the price. $18 a year maybe?

No such low end provider will allow a miner on a $12 plan, especially not for that specs with an IPv4. If you only need a public IP, you can get a smaller server (there are lots in the offers section, for example @RackNerd). Set up VPN on it, forward whatever you need to your VirtualBox VM. That way, you have a public IP and you're not abusing resources on a lowend machine.

If you really need to mine of the VM directly, you'll probably need to change $12/year to $12/month.

  • maybe his miner uses very few resources! low end miner

  • Miner? Interesting

  • Mining coin? Good luck finding provider which allow you to mine on very tight budget.

  • Contrary to what most of you are thinking, this miner doesn't consume as many resources as traditional miners do. I have one of these running on a DigitalOcean node which has 1 vcore and 1 GB ram and the miner process is consuming 50% of memory and 50% of the CPU.

    That is correct! https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3476136/#Comment_3476136

You basically want 0.5 dedicated core and an IPv4 address for $12 (or $18) per year. That is not realistic.

  • A lifetime of living and common sense informs me that there is no free money. It is likely that @naifamoodi is not the inventor of the mining method. If they were, I doubt they would be telling us about it openly on LowEndTalk and looking for low end VPSs.

If this mining method were profitable at low end VPS retail pricing, then VPS providers would stop selling VPSs and convert their hardware to this new mining method. The fact that everyone has not dropped all other processing to perform this new mining method might help clue some people about its profitability.

Spin gold from straw? Something does not add up here.

Then you should know that what you're looking for isn't realistic

Hey, he never specified what vCore he wants.
Throw him dedicated 300 MHz vCore on some 10 years old Intel and this can work.

I also like he compare DO (5$ per month cheapest one - so like 60$ per year) to LET 12$ per year for "same" resources.

50% sustained usage isn't 'low resources', especially at $12/year.

Try oracle free VPS, as budget is too small for IPv4 address never mind server or support cost and the summer is over!

We can offer the shared hosting account for your budget, if you wish? 😂😂

  • I see that my expectations were not reasonable. It's been a long since I last tried hunting for a LEB. So, how about 24 USD a year?

Multiple expectations were not reasonable. That includes the expectation that you will make money by renting VPSs and using them for mining.

Reevaluate your assumptions. At least one of them is incorrect.

    No

Above, you said that you were using DO for your mining activity. If that works, just stay with them

This with 1/2 dedicated core would be your best bet:
(although I am not sure if I want you as a neighbour :P )

    BASE CLOCK:2.0 GHZ
    BOOST CLOCK:UP TO 3.35 GHZ
    CORES:1/2

    RAM:4 GiB DDR4 3200 MHZ ECC
STORAGE:50 GiB NVME PCIe 3.0 SSD
    SNAPSHOTS:1
    UPLINK:1 GBIT
    INCOMING TRAFFIC:UNMETERED
    OUTGOING TRAFFIC:4 TiB

I ignored you the first time but I cannot ignore you again and again. If you don't know something, please, don't talk about it. I have done this already in the past. I turned a mere investment of 60 USD into 4,000 USD. I rented 4 VPSes and paid $12/y. I was able to mine it for just 6 months before they closed the mining program. Yet, I managed to sell the tokens for 4k. This is something beyond you. Accept it and let others do their thing.

That's cool, but with such profit it should not matter much if you pay for those VPSes 60USD or 400USD. Why do you even bother and waste your time with hunting for 12 - 24USD VPS? Just thinking at loud.

Your response answers my questions. In this latest post, you said that you did it before and you turned a significant profit, despite my skepticism. I take you at your word.

I see no reason for you to say that "it is something beyond you." I won't argue with clear success, but this is the first time you asserted that your method has been tested and it works.
