    128GB.

  • Are these ECC RAM?

    Some of our Ryzen builds are ECC RAM, and some aren't. On request, we can see if we have any ECC RAM builds in stock.

    We've tested extensively and found no difference in failure rate vs ECC and non ECC RAM on our Ryzen builds.

    @DataWagon Respectfully have to say that you wouldn't know if something happened inside the RAM, bitflip wise / or some form of data corruption.

    ECC is good and should be default.
    If you are offering NON-ECC that's fine, just make sure the customer know so that they can analyze the risk on their own.

    @Hxxx Honestly ECC on these builds is often literally double the RAM cost, so it's probably not good to put it in every system when less than 5% actually care or require it.

    @MikeA
    Actually is responsibility of the provider to clarify if ECC is not included. It's been an industry standard , literally always, that if it's a production server it has ECC. Now we are seeing small to medium providers deviating from that good practice, specially with the Ryzen gang, that's ok but do let your customer know.

    Most people don't know about the effects of not using ECC, they assume the provider is being responsible in that regard.

    I'm sure I don't have to explain what ECC is or what does, plenty of research available. Nobody will tell you to Not use ECC.

    Why would you expect ECC on desktop hardware.

  • @CConner Ryzen do suport ECC unbuffered same as the i9.
    Mainstream Ryzen providers make their builds with ECC.

    At least this provider DataWagon do have builds with ECC and are open to customization.

    Ryzen has become mainstream enough that now big providers , even the high end, are offering Ryzen builds. The justification is: cheaper CPU cost with more performance while not giving up essential features such as ECC.

    The reality is that most customers don't need / care about ECC at all in these builds, so we stopped making them with ECC. We don't try to deceive anyone, and leave it up to the customer to determine if ECC is needed or not for their use case.
