Just randomly came across this report about the 1983 migration from 8-bit internet addressing to IPv4 and thought it was a good read, so decided to share it here.

    Yeah, I think this 1983 event was precipitated by "we're turning off the old thing now, so if you want to stay connected..."

    Ironically, just today I got a nice new shiny 500Mbps fibre upgrade at home. And this ISP doesn't offer IPv6 which is somewhat annoying as I was transitioning my servers to primarily use IPv6.
