Service Monitoring
I've been tasked with setting up some monitoring for a few troublesome services on a few of our servers. Before I go overkill and setup Nagios, I'd like to solicit some feedback. How do you monitor services running on your servers? Does it automatically restart a dead service, send a notification email, etc.?

Supervisor(d) looks like it'll meet our needs. Thanks.
Supervisord is very good, I use it extensively
We offer external monitoring on quite a few service types over at NodePing. We have international SMS (unlimited on all plans) as well as email, twitter, webhooks, and voice calls. We'd love for you to give us a try.
In this case, it is a few internal services that don't bind to a port or socket. I'll keep NodePing in mind, though.
+1 For node ping if you need to do external monitoring.
