Maybe they are planning to get some new servers in west US/APAC and they know they can fill up a lot of space by entering the mjj market (which is why they need an account)
You know what? MJJ's there want a LET account similarly so that they can hurl a shitload of abuse on @VirMach after mods supposedly didn't approve their registrations twice.
What’s more interesting is that some MJJ's become aware of the business opportunities behind and offer to trade their LET account for a few bucks.
Have MJJ's here hook your up with them and buy an account if registrations to new users are closed?

The register form asks "Why do you want to join?" and then a moderator has to approve you based on what you say.
I'm pretty sure this was done to prevcent automated sign-ups which were happening, though the mods would be the experts.
JB initially had loosened this criteria, but soon after the mod workload increased immensely and there was an uptick in spam and PMS threads, which wasn’t well received by the community. (See https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/149354/the-cest-pit/p744).
I guess that’s one of the reasons we have so many mods now; they’re here to approve signups.
I believe it has mostly been this same amount - at least for the recent couple of years.
Hmm, the price they sold LET account is basically what a hostloc account price for.
