Self hosted solution for small PDFs storage? Without using domain (Only VPS IP)
Hello guys,
I am looking for a solution that allows me to use a VPS to host small PDFs and share them with a direct link.
Don't need a domain, as it will only be for personal use. So that allows access via VPS IP.
Does anyone know of a self hosted solution?
Thanks for any input.

Hi, any vps with a http server or even a cheap shared hosting allow you that.
Any VPS with enough storage and Paperless-NGX should do the job.
why not object storage like Backblaze b2? - they offer 10GB, with 1GB bandwidth directly
You don't need anything except the vps and nginx or apache.
do:
Replace all contents of file with(change folderpath):
run:
Now you can go to your vps's ip like:
1.1.1.1/file.pdf
Something like this maybe ? https://github.com/paperless-ngx/paperless-ngx
There's a couple more here, https://github.com/awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted#document-management
Just because I always recommend it, if applicable: check out caddyserver - https://caddyserver.com/docs/modules/http.handlers.file_server
Single binary, easy setup and go with something like https://nip.io/ and you'll get even HTTPS working automagically for your IP.
Depending on how much space you need and how much you want to spend; you could consider Hetzner storage box with direct https links https://www.hetzner.com/storage/storage-box
You should consider something like S3/compatible for this purpose instead of plain http server.
Any VPS, shared hosting or object storage will do this
You can do it for free in Oracle cloud
Why not give OpenBSD, NetBSD, or BusyBox's httpd daemon a go?
https://man.netbsd.org/httpd.8
https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/services/webserver/http.httpd
https://man.openbsd.org/httpd.8
Storj, free 150GB with S3 compatible.
This worked great! Thanks @Bochi
All of you thanks you very much for your help. Much appreciated.
If all you need is share access to a stored pdf.. Google Drive is your cheapest no fuss option
If you need own storage - Any shared hosting with will do (Just put it inside a folder and share the direct access url)
If you need access control for such pdf links (Such a thibng can be built easily on wordpress & hosted on a shared hosting account)
If you need greater control & other stuff go with a vps as you've originally intended
