Just had an email from VMSpecialist - looks like they're going under
Anyone have any recommendations for replacements? Ideally wanted something similar to the hybrid offering they had on BF

if you do post your server specs and budget the providers be able to provide the offers.
Unfortunately, we don’t do the hybrid VPS deals but be able to help if need any alternative deals.
Can you let us know exactly which specifications you are looking for? You might be able to get some good help here on LET.
2cores / 4GB / 3 TB cached storage (zfs or the likes) at $84 yearly. north/western europe...
In terms of specs am currently paying £100/y for 4 cores, 4gb RAM, 40gb NVMe and a 4tb HDD
Sad to see another popular provider close its doors.
Damn, that's a very cheap deal.
That's why its going under.
If there is demand and you are OK being in Canada (Montreal)
I think we can match most their storage and hybrid offers (if you want the hybrid to be NVMe then it will take 1-2 days to setup as all hybrid nodes we have are SSD)
Please confirm if you want the order link
if anyone can share their other plans we may match them as well
Thanks
Hani
Thanks for the offer! Unfortunately I needed it in Europe
The HDD and NVMe drives and support cost money not just free resources.
@servarica_hani i'm ready to order, if you can match the 4 core, 4 gb, 40 gb nvme, 4 tb hdd, 10 tb traffic deal (+ nested virtualisation, if possible)
here are the last BF deals: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3314557/#Comment_3314557
interested as well.
creating the plans
will update here with order links
Thanks
Dear Hani,
I have a KVM with 1TB HDD, 1 Core, 1GB Ram @ £37.50/Yearly with VmSpecialist. This is from the BF2020 deal https://talk.lowendspirit.com/discussion/2130/vm-specialist-black-friday-2020-offers-storage-nvme-kvm. I do also need IPv4 and IPv6 and I need to be able to set the PTR / Reverse.
So I am also looking for a new home. Would be great if you could make me an offer. Somthing like the Polar Bear Storage with 1TB storage, instead of 2TB. Or the Opossum IPv6 Storage, but with IPv4....
Thanks
Justus
Got the mail as well. Sad, their service was pretty good.
In that regard, can someone help me with setting up IPv6 for a Kimsufi Proxmox? No matter what im trying, it just does not want to work
@Falzo @crilla
here are the 2 offers
https://clients.servarica.com/store/black-friday-2021/vmspecialist-refugee-offer-1
https://clients.servarica.com/store/black-friday-2021/vmspecialist-refugee-offer-2
I can match it but i think this offer that we have is much better
https://clients.servarica.com/store/black-friday-2021/polar-bear-storage-offer
Did i miss anything ?
Thanks
Hani
holy ...
Honestly very tempting @servarica_hani - thanks! May just buy it as a stopgap. Do you support custom ISOs?
it is per year
Fixed
yes just open ticket after you order with the iso url
Farewell, Nottingham, I never had a chance to know thee....
Wow, Hani,
thanks for the quick reply (and sorry for the double post, which was unintended).
Something like Opossum IPv6 Storage but with IPv4 is a better fit for the usage. I want to use the VPS as my backup for my primary email and astarisk server. Hence, I do not really need 2TB of storage. 1TB really is plenty. So this is cost sensitive for me too.
Let me be clear. I appreciate the offer and I will probably take it, if that is, what it is. However, I would rather "downgrade" the VPS a little and pay less (as, again, this is to serve as a backup server).
Best
Justus
If he honors same deals you will search for new host soon... You get double resources for same money you have payed with specialist so its a killer deal anyway. What you ask for is more of bf unsustainable deal..
For us the minimum price is 7$/m or 48$/y regardless of the specs since we do offer real 24/7 support through chat with our VPS and it is hard to go under certain price level except for some occasion (we are thinking of starting offering 5$/m offers at some points in the future )
Not sure about the specialist offers but the dynamic here are a bit different , since we own all our hardware and manage our network the cost on us is different than providers renting their servers
Hi,
first, according to https://www.ipxo.com/blog/ipv4-price-history/ the lease price for an IPv4 ist about 0.08 USD per year. So I believe my thoughts about the price are not unreasonable.
Second, vmspecialist was never known for cheapest prices (but was known for really good and stable service) and I am not under the impression that this business closure is related to too low prices. In fact, vmspacialist seems to contact and refund its customers.
Third, I believe Hani can speak for himself, as you can see above.
Fourth, I am pretty sure that a 1TB or even 500GB offer for a lower price would find its customers. I am pretty sure my thoughts can be at least spoken out aloud.
@servarica_hani
Thanks for you input. I will go with the Polar Bear Storage option, even though it offers too much for me. Just as I said, I believe the Opossum IPv6 Storage to be much more enticing for most use cases. It just really (sadly) needs IPv4. We need more good deals in the 20-30 USD range.
Best
Justus
now what the hell did you smoke? better go read and comprehend your own source again.
You are right about the lease price. Sorry. Still believe in the rest I wrote. It will be interesting to see, how the coming days will be handles by vmspecialist
Looking at the lir/ip-resources thread on this forum. Lets do some easy math....
Right now /24s (256 Addresses) are going around 130 to 150 eur/usd per month.
However not all of those will be usable by end-devices/vm's.
And not all will be in use at the same time.
Lets assume 50% real world usage. So you are roughly looking at 130 / 128 => 1.01 USD/EUR per Month! Or about 12.12 per year. Far off from the quoted 0.08.
As far as i am aware, there are some other factors being the main issue here.
That's what I actually had in mind. This is just not my day for typing. It was a long day and I should probably be in bed.
Anyhow, take the 29 USD for the Opossum IPv6 Storage, add 12 USD, guess what coincides with the price range I had in mind ;-)
