Looking for high performance VPS in NA

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a VPS with at least 2C and 4GB of ram, and with a GB5 singlecore score of around 1500. I have no particular requirements for disk space or bandwidth.

My budget is ~$10 per month, although lower is always better .

Thanks!

  • What do you need a GB5 singlescore of ~1500 for?

That aside, the only thing that rings the bell around that are the promo LXC containers from @Shakib, but there's not been any promotions for a while.

Outside of that, let's see if providers say any offers.

  • Just to quickly clarify some things, I'm fine with both transfers and provider offers :).

I plan on using JetBrains' Gateway, so a higher score will probably make using it more pleasant.

  • Ah, JetBrains.

Well, maybe, but I'd probably find a Ryzen CPU suiting enough (which is around ~1100-1200 on shared resources) without having to go with the top tier CPUs (which you'd be looking for, like, 5950X or i9).

Update: missed the keyword 'single core'. Nevermind.

    Original reply:
Have you ever considered Hetzner? CPX11 (3.99eur) has got a GB5 score near 1300, and I believe CPX21 (6.99 eur) would do just fine.

  • Oh yeah, completely forgot Hetzner ASH is a thing.

The OP specifically wanted singlecore score.
Benched a CPX11 right now because I doubted that claim, the single is 930: https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/13444171

I seemed to remember the Intel ones being faster but it seems that wasn't the case this time since I benched a CX21 as well and it gets 726 single: https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/13444264

Also these speeds are not guarenteed. They may be slower at times due to other users on the node.

For a single score above 1200 or so, you would want a recent Ryzen or Intel Core i9.

https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3375146#Comment_3375146 There you go.. Either w8 for promo or ask them for custom plan.

  • if you need highest single core score, @Shakib is the man.

  • Since HostCram seems to be a common response to my request, @Shakib could I shoot you a PM to see if I could snag a promo ?

HostCram LXC-6G 65$/yr. The performance is unbeatable for the price, but this is LXC so neither RAM nor CPU is dedicated.

I've got a $70/year 60GB NVMe + 10GB RAM VPS from HostHatch's Black Friday 2021 sale and it's got a Geekbench score of around 1200. Is that sufficient for you use case? You'd have to find someone willing to transfer one to you though, or wait until their next sale.

This is on their new hardware platform with latest-gen AMD Milan processors (EPYC 7443P) and Samsung Enterprise PCIe 4.0 NVMe in RAID-10.

LXC does have CPU limits but I'm not sure how many hosts use them. LXC really wasn't designed for the shared hosting scenario.

  • 1500 GB is hard. Probably only Lastest Ryzen or Intel does. Even Gen 3 Epyc reach 1200 only.
