Anyone use terrahosts s3 storage before?

Curious if anyone has used/uses it and what they think about it. Pricing looks great for my usage case and I’ll probably use it to store some large files.

https://terrahost.com/resilient-storage

I’m also curious about the speeds, if anyone can do some tests and give the results below (or even better, host some example files so I can test speeds of downloading)

I.e. how long does it take to download a 1GB file from it?

Thanks!

  • It's to expensive men for that price I go to Backblaze B2 for 0,005 Dollar

  • I believe @vitobotta tested it out for a bit?

I am not using it now but I tested it and it was pretty fast compared to other compatible s3 storage services.

  • Same storage pricing as the real S3. Hard sell when B2 is so much cheaper.

Ehm, no API or egress fees :)

  • They have a minimum charge for object storage

  • Just use Serverius or Scaleway.

Minimum charge won't hurt me, I'll be storing more than that anyways

@terrahost Hey, I'm trying to register but your registration isn't sending me an email.

TerraHost S3 has a minimum charge per month so I don't want to use it. Backblaze B2 has egress traffic & API requests. And the fact is that I also want to have a private docker registry. So, I purchase a GreencloudVPS Storage Plan, host MinIO for S3 and Docker registry there. May be I will replicate to Backblaze or just backup with Hetzner Storage Box

Hey, sorry to hear that you're having issues. Please PM me and we'll resolve it asap :)

  • @terrahost does your object storage support running SQL queries on JSON objects? (See https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/API/API_SelectObjectContent.html)

how is the minio performance on hdd storage?

Greencloud has RAID10 and the benches I've seen typically show speeds of ~600MB/s performance, and performance should be good enough. A lot of providers typically provide only RAID50/RAID60 setups with speeds of ~80-100MB/s and this is when Minio's performance really suffers.

I have no problem atm. May be I haven't stressed it enough.
For Docker registry, it is very fast. I have 3 VPS crawling a 400MB image concurrently in the same data center to the Storage VPS. It took only 3 seconds on each docker pull
