Need help optimize server for reddit traffic?
I have a reverse proxy site that gets traffic mostly from reddit and it's very similar to ddos. How can I optimize my vps to handle this traffic since my site receiving overwhelming traffic in a very short time.
Currently my vps runs nginx with proxy cache. What else can I do?

Rapid elasticity.
One commands to stop all the attacks:
Cache more, get better servers, get a CDN, write better code, or stop posting on Reddit.
Your choice.
Easiest option is stop posting on Reddit 😂😂
If you can turn your site into static HTML, you can laugh at the idea of even having to worry about it.
Have you tried CloudFlare? Simple solution for CDN.
Find out what, is causing it, could be someone posted your website or project on reddit.
Plus anything related to headers what a client sends, can be faked, so does not really need to come from reddit, could be just some script kid.
See wbat is your limitation (network, cpu, ram) first and then play with nginx config (cpu/ram), with cdn (network) or upgrade your VPS.
there's a typo - it's $((8/64))
If you use PHP to generate web pages, try jpcache to cache the whole page.
