Note: Servers do not have iGPU HDMI Dummy plug right now installed, but those are FREE so if you want the iGPU Vega GPU enabled just holler us and will get the plug installed and server rebooted for you
wow. that's a beast
New anniversary special: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/177183/pulsed-media-12th-anniversary-celebration-free-seedboxes-and-special-anniversary-seedboxes/
The SSD Raffle one goes to the SSD servers on this thread
What's this dummy plug do? I mean, I assume to make the card think a monitor is connected, but how does that matter, use case wise?
Also, is 32GB RAM overkill and you could save a bit on stuffing 16GB only, or it really gets used once it's seedboxing it's ass off?
Not sure about integrated GPUs, but with NVIDIA cards, you can connect via Parsec to capture that fake display and get buttery-smooth gaming. Doubt anyone would need to do that on these servers though.
Note that Parsec has a workaround (shown here), where it has a driver to create a virtual display, so dummy plugs aren't necessary anyways anymore.
It forces the iGPU to always be enabled so you can use it. For example with ffmpeg transcoding
Relatively 32GB is not that much i think compared to rest of the system. But yeah, 16GB could suffice and would indeed save a pretty penny. We configured these like we would use them for the SSD series we have, actually would have preferred 64GB but since it's SSD swapping is not that fatal for performance if it happens occasionally.
For one user just seedboxing 32GB is a bit much tho, but if you have 30 users on the node it's really not that much.
Oh yeah which reminds me with power or power+ you can setup as many users on the node as you want as you got sudo. We are also looking into possibility to have them still on our automation on power service level so users can leverage all our automation while setting up all their friends on the node
Workarounds don't always work, so better to have that cheap little dummy plug than not Should tho check if there is idle power consumption difference.
wow, good offer
So if it's not connected, it would just do software transcoding instead of hardware transcoding? This just seems like someone dropped the ball with bad design decision.
