  • Some hope.

  • Once Chinese government reduce block on international routes, any route will be fast.

Why providers don’t provide optimized routes to China? It’s such a big market, looks like all providers don’t like money and are stupid, right?

    No.

Two reasons: Geopolitics, and authoritarian stances. That's the shortest and most non-controversial answer I can give you.

    No.

Ya? Because it expensive and unfortunately a lot of people want it cheap? A lot have no idea what they order for? And doing comparison normal connection vs Optimized router and always picked the cheapest as possible?

  • Here is a story I heard about China. Few years ago scammer individual/group developed a bandwidth sharing platform and advertised this as earning opportunity to Chinese market. Install this x binary and when your computer is sitting idle it earns real money. People started doing this like honeybees gather around their nest.

You know what? Chinese people are smart. They started renting multiple 10g servers from various providers. And those 10g was utilized to their best 24/7. Providers got suspicious and they contacted their Chinese friends and got to know about this scheme.

One day the scammer individual/group vanished in thin air and they got no money from the scheme. You remember what I said earlier? Chinese people are smart. They started opening disputes in their credit card company/PalPay.

Hope more airlines can resume and discount commercial flights for mainland China.

The US could lose all flights to China ahead of the Beijing Winter Olympics

Sorry, this content is not available in your region.

Ha! Must be the US stupid idea to use a different 5G frequency to everyone else. :p
Perhaps it's the MJJ block, over-reaching to the UK.

You need an "unlock news" VPN, just like others asking for "unlock Netflix" VPN.

    Yeah, yeah, I know. ;)

Actually, if the whole World implemented this policy (and stricter), it would likely reduce the effect of the pandemic. Just my twisted opinion.

What I think will happen in 300 years.

Ice in North and South pole will melt, this will result in a good chunk of China going underwater. Fertile lands will be gone as well as cities.

Tibet will declare independence once Chinese government is thrown away.

Only then you will have good international connection going in and out.

    tl;tr
Hosts aren't at fault. Your own damn government is. Quit hoping and act, fuckers.

This thing does exist (for example, 流量矿, literally “Traffic Ores”) but I guess the story you heard is kinda wrong. Chinese internet users love videos (like, TikTok), so domestic bandwidth is expensive too. So some companies started exploring “P-CDN”, maybe Peer-to peer CDN I guess. This is the thing you mentioned. But it’s impossible to use 10G server to earn money, since 10G server here is ridiculously priced, and international bandwidth is terrible for most unoptimized links.

For scamming, yes. As a 100% native Chinese I know more than anybody how some guys abuse good things. However I don’t think this is the root cause. Here, large carriers can’t decide to buy more transit by themselves. They have to ask for permission from the government. Socialism is live here, so many things are planned. The government is not so happy about too much international bandwidth. And there’s heavy censorship and the famous GFW.

One more thing: don’t forget that there are 1.4B people living in China. Even NTP and DNS traffic could account for a large part of the traffic. So in conclusion I believe it’s censorship, government’s controlling and large population, all added up, caused the situation.

I hope the opposite. Increasing China's isolation will be better for the world and force China to reform is behavior. Until China is no longer a pariah on the world stage, I'd prefer a global firewall blocking all traffic to/from China.

Need a zero child policy or culling. >:) Any global warming countermeasures by the likes of the overpopulated UK, is like pissing against the wind.

Along with port scans and hacking attempts (just like 'murica)!

Unfortunately, maybe this is true. I get a lot of port scanning from China on my VPS overseas.

That's a surprising change in tone. I thought you blocked all purchases from China to your hosting company due to the "increase number of fraud orders".

Are you afraid the west will adopt that shit?

No, reform only happens when they can see and want our lives instead of their propaganda telling them their grass is greener and our grass is shit.

  • bshbsh Member

    Nope!
    Nope = no hope

  • @TimboJones said: .. when they can see and want our lives..

I would normally agree but that doesn't seem to be the case, taking into account word of mouth, from emigration & tourism. Perhaps they just don't like what they see - not all cultures/(indoctrination/brainwashing) are the same.

  • Abandon all hope. All hope is gone.
