It runs well, but you need to make a small tweak to the code to adjust how much RAM it uses. I wrote this guide a while back: https://d.sb/2019/07/wireguard-on-openvz-lxc. I chat to the creator of Wireguard a while back and they recommended reusing the config from the iOS app since that's also a RAM-limited environment (in terms of RAM limit per app) and that seems to work fine, so that's what I use in the guide.

I've got a precompiled version here: http://d.ls/wireguard/wireguard-go-v0.0.20191012 (built on a 64-bit machine running Debian 10) but it's quite old now.

You'll also need to install the regular wireguard package to get the userland tools like wg-quick and wg, and create your config. Then just sudo service wg-quick@wg0 start like with regular WireGuard.

  • @Cam,

Just want to note a discrepancy: your webpage states $7 per year, but the actual charge is $12. I've noticed only after paying. Not end of the world, but... Precision, gentlemen!

  • Still waitin' for that dolla' before my bedtime :P

Hmm. Which service? And which promo code?

  • @Cam, "LittleVZ 256MB", AUS.

    That's always said "$12"!?

(or you could have used promo code BF-6D256MBLVZ for $6/yr)

Hi Cam, Throughout the day I've been getting "The coupon could not be applied." when I've tried to order a storage plan. I tried different browsers. So, I thought maybe that coupon code had already been used to its limit. If that's the case, no problems. Hope BF hasn't too grueling for you.

  • Missed the "Dolla" plans annually :'(

Any guide for that? I'm using NYR and Angristan Script atm but would like to try your guide.

It's covered in the guide I linked to. :)

Ideally you should build wireguard-go on the same OS and architecture you're using on the VPS. For example, if the VPS is running 64-bit Debian 11, compile wireguard-go on a 64-bit Debian 11 system. That way you don't have to deal with differing glibc versions.

I checked your guide and it seems intended for old Debian version, but I will check further.

  • I would buy the bundle if it were LXC. old kernel and openvz is not for me, and i have 1 sg littlevz idling :|

It should still work except you no longer need to add the backports repo since the WireGuard tools are included in Debian 11.

It is still needed, Debian 10 only for AU LittleVZ.

  • @Fritz said: It is still needed, Debian 10 only for AU LittleVZ.

apt dist-upgrade is your friend. Kernel will stay at 4.19 though due to the virtualisation method, it's essentially a container.

@Cam , please feel free to correct me if that's not the case.

Doing that with a capped cpu speed (600Mhz) And few KBps disk speed will only gives problem for me. I'll stick with Debian 10 for now.
