VPS in South America (Chile)
Hello,
I need an alternative to DigitalOcean for South America. We currently have 70-ish droplets at DO which is working great as our customers are mostly in EU and UK. But we recently got a new customer based in Chile (Punta Arenas) and the server that our devs spun up in Frankfurt is of course terribly slow. I also tried to ping from our client to Vultr in Mexico City and response time was 700+ms.
I've looked at OneProvider and Edis, but I need more alternatives. It needs to be a provider with a long history and good reputation.
RAM: min 2 GB
CPU min 2 cores
Storage: 30-40 GB SSD
Bandwidth: 1 TB @ 100(0) mbps
Budget: $40 /month

Would this work?
https://vps.guru/
I would give https://www.opencloud.cl/ a try.
Or ask https://infofractal.io/en/vps/ about a quote for your need, please note that they are single homed, but they are the southernmost (in Valdivia) you get in Chile afaik.
https://infofractal.io/
You could get around 80ms from Vultr Miami.
@imok:
as in Chile in general or in Punta Arenas? That's probably quite a difference...
panel.opencloud.host
They also have nice free uptime monitoring inside.
Oh I've just seen the location of Punta Arenas.
You can try some Brazilian VPS, which should be close enough to Chile. Look up for Brasil VPS on Google.
I have a server with hostname.cl since 2013 in Chile. Don't recall many if any issues, I can check monitoring platform if you want for more granular info.
One server with publiperu in Peru since 2014 - they are OK, but not great.
For Brazil we use VPS.NET and for Argentina we use nxnet.
Hopefully this helps.
Ah wait, they are not single homed anymore. They used to only have only Entel Chile SA as upstream, now they have EdgeUno as well. But the good thing is that they have Entel as upstream, as that one is probably the only one bringing the internet to Punta Arenas?
Forgot to mention that there should be English language and support. Also need invoices in English with EUR/USD.
I've started looking into the mentions here and offers received in PM. Tempted to try VPS.net in Brazil as they offer $100 credit which should give me the resources to test everything.
I cannot tell about opencloud, as I don't have a service there, but infofractal is sending the invoices in English in USD and support speaks English as well.
@Zappie has Chile!
https://zappiehost.com/chile-premium-kvm-vps-servers
6 CPU CORE
4GB RAM
150GB SSD Storage
1.2TB Traffic (100mbit Port)
24.50/mo (semi) or $35 month paid monthly
@jahrinc: that location looks pretty much as if they are using infofractal.
Any smaller servers in 🌶 ?
Ha! totally cant keep things hidden with the LET crew
A a new addition to our exotic location offerings
dale con https://www.zgh.cl/
tengo housing allá hace un par de años y perfecto. el soporte tb muy bueno
That's awesome. @Zappie how long has your brand been in business?
Zappie started in March 2015, so 6+ years running so far
I think our first LEB promo was back in mid 2015 if I recall correctly
+1 for Zappie.. I grabbed one of their Chile VMs as soon as they were available, and absolutely loooove the support from @Zappie
Don't know if Abdullah @WebHorizon have any idea to add Chile location, if so I think it would be OVZ?
nice to see @Zappie got Chile didn't see it before, congrats on the expansion!
Would you mind sharing a benchmark?

On small companies the best:
zgh.cl ( have their own small datacenter with good servers and bandwidth)
vps.guru ( low cost alternative, more limited but stable )
Opencloud.cl ( not so good )
On big, companies that have cloud on chile:
Oracle
Huawei
Azure
Amazon Cloudfront
comming soon google
vps guru 5 USD/month, I do not recommend it

As i said, its low performance but stable.
The high performance of this company is beebop.cloud ( but its expensive ).
