Giveaway Results/Winners

When providers do giveaway's do we get to see a list of members of who have won/received the gifts or do we just "trust" providers to follow through with the prizes?

  • Winners get notified. If you do not trust organizers, then don't participate. LET is not some global conspiracy against you.

Actually, it's just like in the McDonald's Monopoly scam, where the one entrusted to oversee the integrity of the game is actually the head of an interstate criminal enterprise network where the prizes are disbursed to friends and family members in exchange for kickbacks.

Seriously, the winners are usually announced. It's on the recipients to declare not receiving the prize after a reasonable time and haven't been contacted. It's rare, but a winner might not pass a fraud check, or something.

For the September RN giveaway, they've been announced on LowEndBox:

(Scroll down to the Gleam widget)

The Gleam platform makes that easy to do. When we were just pulling random emails off the LEB mailing list, all we had was an email address so obviously we weren't going to post those.

The entry #. If you look at the top of that widget, you'll see there were 17528 total entries. When Gleam picks entries, it puts them in some order (might be chronological) and then makes random picks.

i guess telling the world that entry # 123 was a winner is not very meaningful. On the backend, I could look and see that entry ### was from user X for action Y, but that's also not all that interesting either. The point is that every action gets the specified number of entries, you put all the entries in a virtual hat, and then pick randomly.

We have no input on the picking other than clicking the "pick winners" button. Behind the scenes, Gleam uses random.org for its random selections.
