Cheap basic VPS
Hello fellow LET members, after scouting the forum for some time I decided to actually post here as I've seen how helpful you guys are! So I'm looking for a simple 768mb-1gb vps, any type of virtualization will do, all I need is ddos protection, looked at boomers plans but I would prefer to pay monthly. I need ddos protection mainly as it will be for a website, hostvds seems decent price-wise, but it's unknown if they're protected and people complained about recent downtimes here.

What location are you seeking and what monthly price do you want?
Location doesn't matter in all honesty, looking to pay ~$2 if possible, if not then that's fine.
over your budget but ovh has some of the best ddos protection
https://us.ovh.com/us/order/vps/?v=3#/vps/build?selection=~(range~'Starter)&CampaignName=deals-0921
you can also try dedipath which is within your budget
https://portal.dedipath.com/cart.php?a=add&pid=255
use code memorialday5021
Isn't 20gbps a bit too low on dedipath? Could go ovh, but idk if their basic VPS is OVH Game or OVH Path, the ovh vps is $3.50 though, only a dollar for the 1st month.
what kind of website are you hosting where people are going to hit you with over 20gbps? and i would be more worried about l7 attacks, so really you should be using something like cloudflare if you're that worried, at least at this budget
You're hella right, didn't think of cloudflare at all. So in general what's a good cheap vps (non ddos protected)
the dedipath one is fine, what sort of website are you hosting?
Perhaps HostSailor in their Romania location? They offer 20Gbps protection for free in that location.
I highly doubt you'd need more than 20Gbps of L4 protection. L7 shouldn't be an issue as you should be using CloudFare in this price range.
Personal website related to my projects, and a simple discord bot too.
that would be a good recommendation, although they sold me 8 cores on an E3 and then support told me it was a dual e3 node, which i do not think exists. still, the performance and network are fine (NL)
if it is really that simple than it would work for you. you could also use hostsailor if you want europe like @Privacy said

I was also reasonably impressed with mikrovps, in their France location

Virmach? I don't personally like ColonCrossing ColoCrossing but their Buffalo, NY location has 20Gbps L1-L7 protection for free.
Are they openVZ6 or 7? Seems really good, they offered me a 20% off coupon also variety of payment options, operating systems seem old but it doesn't matter to me
Referring to HostSailor.
which provider is that? i know dedipath is ovz7 and i am pretty sure hostsailor is ovz7 as well, since i installed debian 10 in solusvm
HostSailor
HostSailor is OVZ7
Look at the current offers of Little creek hosting.

11.88€ yearly or 4€ month VPS with 1.5GB RAM
Also you have 8GB RAM and 4 Cores for 16€/month

Expensive? I don't agree.
We’ve got DDoS protected VPSs in Hong Kong - currently got 2 promotions running, one of them averages your monthly cost to 3$. Offers are here if interested: https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/172675/mlnl-host-rebranding-and-new-nat-offers-1/p1
