Recently leaked documents show that the "National Security Agency" is willing to collect and make public private Internet usage details to embarrass individuals who disagree with the agency's goals. Oh, and then they make unfounded justifications for it.

The world will lash back against them, and the people they swore to protect will cheer for the "enemy" for once.

  • So now we know why Liberal Dianne Feinstein is such an ardent NSA supporter.

    That is scary...

Actually, this is the final goal of the security agencies in any country.
You need to get rid of political adversaries in the first place so the law will allow you to do your job "unhindered".
I am not sure if "the market" will tolerate any more Petraeus cases in the short term but in the end more and more people will be purged, including from the legal system and the legislative one. Here the president managed to sack a lot of people due to the control over "the security agencies". There are still many people that oppose him and the people voted him out 9:1, only US and EU aside from the "security agencies" pressure on the constitutional court managed to put him back so there is hope yet.

  • Not scary - seriously, the US government is interested in trying* to make someone look bad cause they have viewed pr0n? I have always assumed that this type of data was being used to form our "profiles", so it's fine, they can try all they want to make me look bad. There is a reason pr0n sites are the most viewed pages on the net, and I am not the only one who has been there :)

Except that when you are judge that ruled against NSA and "friends" or you are a judge that could prove worth aquiring, your online profiling will be scrutinized.
You should not forget that, while big porn consumers, americans are bigots and consider it shameful so as a judge (for example you could be a senator or police officer) you will be faced with the ruin of your career or with "cooperating" with the "good guys" against the "unamericans".

This is a classical example on why the people have a right to privacy. There cant be democracy without privacy, imagine NSA has already something embarassing on everyone (nobody is a saint, cut that crap with nothing to hide, and even if you are a saint, who will stop them planting something on you ?), they are already ruling US with everyone in their pocket, do you think they will not use their military to expand the "sphere of influence" ?

Democracy and human rights in US are a thing that should concern every citizen on the planet.

The world will get angry on internet forums for 5 minutes, and then go back to drinking beer and eating pizza.

  • Guys NSA is very powerful agency. So going against them is no option sooner or later you will have to bow down to them.
