    Download it! Backup it fast!

But don't you dare opening it, otherwise you will forget about the backup process.

How I am suppose to download something from something that is down?
I could try to bring it up, theoretically, maybe Chuck Norris can help.

    Roundhouse kick that bitch up.

disk speeds are good since long time ago (after they kicked out the torrent sh*t)

fio Disk Speed Tests (Mixed R/W 50/50):
    ---------------------------------
    Block Size | 4k (IOPS) | 64k (IOPS)
      ------ | --- ---- | ---- ----
    Read | 37.30 MB/s (9.3k) | 204.72 MB/s (3.1k)
    Write | 37.39 MB/s (9.3k) | 205.79 MB/s (3.2k)
    Total | 74.70 MB/s (18.6k) | 410.52 MB/s (6.4k)
               | |
    Block Size | 512k (IOPS) | 1m (IOPS)
      ------ | --- ---- | ---- ----
    Read | 220.39 MB/s (430) | 195.01 MB/s (190)
    Write | 232.10 MB/s (453) | 208.00 MB/s (203)
    Total | 452.50 MB/s (883) | 403.02 MB/s (393)

    nothing to complain about 🤷‍♂️

  • So.. how many storage boxes does one need to survive the odds of all of 'em going down? :pensive:

I thought 4 is enough but now i'm down to 2 copies of my data :(

4 definitely is enough. however, you shouldn't sit there until the end of time waiting doing nothing and if you figure one that's down is not coming back, replace it.

so if one of yours is HS and down for 6-7 weeks now, you should have replaced it 4-5 weeks ago to keep up the level of redundancy, wouldn't you say?

this one here is still in the frame to simply wait for though, odds are very high for it to just come back on and get sorted in the next few days 🤷‍♂️

  • TBH, July 1st is Canada Day and just about everything is shut down. Interesting that Servarica thought they could do the migration on a holiday. I know this might have been planned in advance and the staff who were supposed to show up knew it as well, but personally, I wouldn't plan any migration on a national holiday.

Can Any one suggest Stable Windows VPS provider in Europe ? as this much downtime has become routine with them.

What downtime have you experienced? I haven't been with them for very long, but this is the first downtime I can recall.

They are moving to a new datacenter, which is not an everyday event, so I suppose I'm more willing than some to cut them slack. (I also use them for backup storage, so I guess that makes a difference, too).

I have been with them since 2014, service is great, past 1.5 years experienced this as a 3rd downtime.

As we host our IoT service with them , we just need stable vps to parse data received from static IP (but some old device does not supports domain ) so changing IP is difficult.

This downtime for me was of 26 hours approx -
Previous downtime was 8 hrs approx due to fiber cut ( they have rectified it with backup network )

    • Their support is great even on live chat they are mostly available online with real support rep.

_ It is due to the requirement of my application , looking for stable Windows VPS provider in Europe location, whose team can fix issues faster.

P.s. @servarica_hani they are improvising and growing bigger , Good Luck !

  • @kp93 - maybe have 2 windows servers and use AWS Route 53 or something similar with health checks- so if one goes down it diverts all traffic to the other?

Neah. This is just another moving with unexpected problems, as usual. We had enough big drama for one year.

    Oh, and FU Chia!

  • My v6 box is up, but seems no network for it :(

No issue with my Polar Bear so far. Either it's still alive in the old DC, or I'm among the (many?) lucky ones in the new DC.

I think all are already in the new DC. vmware might have carried over the uptime during the freeze, but that's probably rather misleading then 🤷‍♂️

I am still seeing poor outgoing speeds. maybe I need to stop the whole VM once or something like that...

edit: should have done that earlier, only rebooted in between, but that probably wasn't enough.

anyway, now after a complete shutdown and start via control panel:

    Clouvider | London, UK (10G) | 1.68 Gbits/sec | 1.64 Gbits/sec
    Online.net | Paris, FR (10G) | 2.19 Gbits/sec | 1.61 Gbits/sec
    WorldStream | The Netherlands (10G) | 1.73 Gbits/sec | 1.22 Gbits/sec
    Biznet | Jakarta, Indonesia (1G) | 504 Mbits/sec | 26.9 Mbits/sec
    Clouvider | NYC, NY, US (10G) | 4.12 Gbits/sec | 3.93 Gbits/sec
    Velocity Online | Tallahassee, FL, US (10G) | 3.41 Gbits/sec | 3.64 Gbits/sec
    Clouvider | Los Angeles, CA, US (10G) | 2.03 Gbits/sec | 2.31 Gbits/sec

that looks by far better now, so make sure you fully stop your VM at least once after the migration...

Confirmed: the network has huge problems.

  • Definitely has network problems, and their techs are apparently not aware of it. Last reply from their support was essentially "all normal, give it 48h then come back to us".

Pinging my storage VPS even if it's turned off succeeds 100%.
Pinging any IP from the VPS shows huge packet losses.
Using mtr, the packet loss is immediate, at the first hop.

Rebooted twice, no change. Disk speed is fine btw.

Is this IPv6 and are you on H.E.?

Connection via IPv6 seems generally available to/from most networks I have access to, but NOT via Hurricane Electric, at least not via the 3 POPs I use, dropped immediately, either direction, no route.

That might indicate the IP is in use elsewhere.

    They're using VMWARE? That's rare.

Pretty sure they use Xen, for the storage servers at least.

  • Ipv6 network unreachable again, it was ok for a while yesterday, down again today.

  • My storage VPS is back :)

As far as I know, they're 100% Xen. They're the developers/maintainers of a module that connects WHMCS to Xen (https://xenmodule.com/).
