Minecraft Server
Hello friends how are you? How's the endless ram race going?! LOL
So I'm looking to host a minecraft server, but I need a lot of ram and I need an idea about values.
Number of cores: 4 (more than enough)
RAM: From 8GB, prefer 10GB
Disk space: 40GB
Disk Type: SSD
Bandwidth: I put unlimited because I'm not sure, but I believe 2TB is enough.
Port speed: 1 Gbit/s or 100Mbyte/s
DDoS Protection: Yes
Number of IPs: 1 IP v4 and v6
Location: North America or Western Europe
Billing Period: Monthly

How many players do you need? ExtraVM is one popular choice here and is very robust:
https://extravm.com/minecraft.php
Per hour 20 players max, but the point is that it seems that newer versions of minecraft have been consuming more ram and requiring more cores more cpu. While the 1.8 needed 2Gb and 1 cpu cores, the 1.16 requires 6Gb and 3 cpu cores.
You can check out our host, its shared hosting, not VPS but DDoS protected.

You can contact with their support or tag @MikeA, they are one of the premium + cheaper + reliable options for MInecraft hosting and I believe they know best
Btw you don't even have to care about the bandwidth and storage, ExtraVM have everything included
1.17 vanilla server blows, just use Spigot or Paper and you'll be fine.
Newer version (1.12+) doesn't consume more cores, they need a much, much faster ones to function.
Even with 1.8, I wouldn't use a VPS for MC unless its just a small testing server for me and 2 players max.
Shared hosting is the way to go if you ask me. I believe https://versatilenode.com are decent.
Use other versions like Cuberite. They require more dev resources than computing resources. In my case it takes less than 30% of RAM of what Spigot takes.
