What does your error log say?
That's probably your first step.
It sounds like you have no clue what you are doing, the 'is someone hacking me' is usually the thought process for someone that does not know what they are doing.
please help me with a special command for this..because when I type dmesg .. I got a bunch of logs..what should I type
I am very new to Linux and still learning
yes I am very new to linux..now again server down 2nd time
The end is nigh.
Really, why did you even pick a dedi to begin with.
Overloaded servers don't necessarily crash.
Without a log, though, we can't help you.
to cut cost from my current provider & also to learn
please help me which command I should enter to get a specific log
journalctl -xe
i got this
Clean up the system and check it for errors:
You need a MS-DOS floppy disk to run these commands.
It works well in our computer lab.
I am running ubuntu on server which I dont have access..
floppy?
got this email from ovh
Our monitoring system has just detected a fault on your server *****
The fault was noticed on 2021-06-01 18:29:37
Our team of technicians on site (operational 24/7), has been informed
of the fault and will intervene on your machine.
Please be aware that other interventions may currently be in progress and
an intervention lasts on average 30 minutes per machine.
We are therefore not able to give you more details on the starting time
of the intervention.
You will receive an email as soon as a technician takes charge of your
server. Meanwhile, you have can reboot it via your manager.
--delete--
the server is broken, and they will fix it within 2 days
do you have money?
so if i just wait..then i will be up in 2 days..
I have created ticket in panel & on support forum though
lol what kind of question is this?
He asked because you might need to hire a sys admin.
what kind of magic he will do if ovh saying the fault is hardware one?
The system should detect these crashes.
I had these issues on a KS1, they replaced the motherboard in 60 minutes total.
If it's a hardware issue, OVH will solve dat. If it's software, it's down to you or someone you hire.
Thanks for the reply..I will wait then
I would definitely hire him or someone if the problem is from the software side..but this looks like ovh issue as other member also confirm the same
Who knows.
Regardless, you will run into issues sooner or later. A dedicated server requires maintenance which I doubt you know how.
If you don't know the meaning of logs then maybe the unmanaged server is not for you.
Kindly please provide us the full log so someone can help.
Also do you use OVH kernel when you installed the os?
Edited: if you need urgent help from OVH then try to call them otherwise you have to wait for days.
I have magic fingers
Not true at all. Everything is learnable. What does it matter if he googles it or asks here where people are heads into the stuff?
As I see it he asked pretty politely of someone could give him the command but surely all he got was snarky ass comments back.
Well if it's not for production use then it's fine.
You are right. Anyone can learn at any stage. It's not a crime.
That's why I Asked him to provide logs.
Swizzin surely ain't production 😀
