Ipxcore changing all ipv4 adresses!

Dear Z,

You are receiving this message because you have active IPXcore VPS services in Buffalo. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR OPENVZ VERSUS KVM.

We are writing to inform you that we will begin assigning new IPv4 addresses to your Buffalo services, effective immediately. Your VPS's main IP will be switched to the new IPv4 address, however, your old IPv4 address will continue to be in place and usable until December 31st, 2013.

FOR OPENVZ, the method that we intend to use will be:

-Assign a new IPv4 address to your VPS within the next few days
-Change your VPS's main IP address to the new IPv4 address
-On or after December 31st, remove your old IPv4 address

FOR KVM: We will contact you directly to coordinate the changeover of your IPv4 addresses.

All of your services, applications, and processes should continue to work without issue. We are giving you over one month of time to effect the change; this is more than enough time for you to migrate your external processes to the new IPv4 address.

Once again, your old IPv4 address will continue to work until December 31st, 2013.

Please open a support ticket if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,
-Adam, Damian, Matt, Henri, and Michael

Wonder, what is the reason behind this.

    @Damian

  • Might have received their own allocation directly from ARIN if they didn't already have one.

1 Month notice is really good imho.

taronyu so? Is it a big deal they are giving a month notice...

VPS Ace are doing a complete server move and IP re-allocation within 24 hours..

Ohh wait... I'm probably the only one doing this. Creating a topic after a mass mailing. Please bash all the other people too ;)

I'm not saying that it is bad, just notifying people about it.

    but do not understand why...

Arin asks all providers which get own space to give back the space they rented. This is not something they can avoid, it is a sound business decision to get your own lot.

  • They could have explained in the email though.

  • get same email from them it doesn't matter for me 1 month notice is good enough to any user prepare for the changes

  • they already did the same thing in Sep for San Diego ovz. ip change from AIS assigned to their own allocation. so I think they're doing it in Buffallo vps.
it's reasonable, and 1 month early to inform is good enough

Interesting, that's cool if they got their own IP space, and one month notice is plenty of time it - looks like they've planned well.

    @Damian

  • I got those email too :) just calm people. lol

  • i liked the fact there is enough lead time... u

  • Somehow you all indirectly bashing some provider. -_-

I am calm, only reason I created this thread to notify people. Not bash ipxcore, in fact ipxcore is in the top 3 providers for me. I love them. :)

  • I love them too :) I just use my vps with them as VPN, so I don't too care about IP changes

It's actually good thing to get new clean IP every now and then considering all porn you downloaded with old IP :P

I use only for streaming audio :) maybe next time I'll use to watching pron :))

  • They have already changed IP for all San Diego VPS in Aug (because they've been given a great deal on IP addr).
They really provide good services -- sending notice for scheduled maintenance in advance and giving explanation for unexpected issues.

  • Apparently LET no longer notifies me when someone flags me in a post... that's annoying.

Anyway, we're re-assigning IPs because as an outcome of the natural progression of our business, we've grown to the point where it makes more sense to have large contiguous blocks of IPs that are portable between datacenters than to rent small helter-skelter blocks from each datacenter.

We're finding that it's either extremely easy to get a datacenter to route your own IPs for you, or nearly impossible.

Good things are coming to IPXcore customers in 2014. Expect a big announcement mid-January regarding a massive improvement.

It should. Check your notification settings.

    btw. congratulations (for IPs).
