Hi folks!
What is the best free/open-source control panel to manage a VPS?
I found these:
- Aapanel (aapanel.com)
- Cipi (cipi.sh)
- Directadmin (directadmin.com)
- Vesta (vestacp.com)
Do you have any experience with one or more of them?
Do you know valid alternatives? My needs are:
- manage LAMP/LEMP virtual hosts
- manage PHP-FPM
- manage SSL certificates
Let me know!
Thank You

Congrats on your 1st post!
I simply would like to know if you have any experience with one or more of those panels and what is the best in your opinion! Anyway, I'm looking for search results. Sorry for the question if it's a problem!
KeyHelp
Used them, but they did some shady stuff here on LET.
first time hearing about them.
Paid, but worth it
Use a fork like HestiaCP because vesta is pretty much dead nowadays.

The best Free web hosting control panel are:
Webuzo and centos web panel.
yes, we are using direct admin this is the best and cheap control panel.
Thank You for the replies guys!
seeing your requirements you dont need control panel, you can install of the packages using cli, that too in less time and hassle compare to installing control panel
you can also try Webuzo, it comes with both free & paid version as well.
VestaCP has to much security issues

(Also aplies to VestaCP)
And there also one more coming soon...
The best free option is proxmox.
Virtualmin
what about cwp and cyberpanel?
Try CyberPanel
Some providers (@seriesn, @hotlineservers &c) offers DirectAdmin for free with their servers.
Webmin + Virtualmin
If that doesn't work for whatever reason, ISP-Config
Alternatively, use a provider that provides DirectAdmin licenses for free.
Proxmox allow only the creation/manage of VPS not setup websites / databases.
OK guys, Thank You for the answers!
I tried many panels in the last two days... I think that better are CyberPanel and Cipi Control Panel! Anyway, you make me discover many panels that I didn't know!
Keyhelp would be my choice for a basic free panel.
How's fastpanel? cloudpanel.io?
I try Cipi, this panel take root privileges.. for me that's danger.. if someone break in, all of the sudden can take full control of the server.
"At the end of installation process, Cipi will show some password that you have to conserve bacause Cipi will disable "root" access so the only way to SSH into your server after Cipi installation as root is using "cipi" user."
If caring about security better to setup and configure everything & use bash scripts for automation.
Moss is a good alternative for CIPI & it is much better.
I will go for Webmin
Cyberpanel or CentOS WebPanel
directadmin is paid
Webmin/Virtualmin is that complex in UI implementation, yet not automatically setup, that you're nearly better off with a straight command line setup. IMHO.
I only use webmin for set-and-forget setups and even then it's of limited benefit.
For me free the best is cyberpanel
I'd suggest having a look at https://rack911labs.ca/research/security-analysis-of-alternative-control-panels/
Many of the free panels have major security issues, so be sure to research any options that catch your eye.
Recently playing with KeyHelp Free Version. Looks promising. Not sure about the security though. I guess Rack911 did not review them.
Bear in mind that the extremely useful/enlightening Rack911 report is now quite "old" (November 2, 2019) and much software has been updated since then. (CWP developers still haven't got the message, though. )
