Hello,

I am looking for vps for learning purpose.
Requirements - 512 mb ram, 10 gb ssd, 1 core(dedicated) , 200 gb bw/month
Any location is fine however must accept indian debit card as payment.
I will host websites using different cms, host vpn, install different os multiple times, create seedbox only there will be no torrents, reboot multiple times, host email server etc.
Budget 15 usd/ year but might increase a bit if offer is good.
Also must have average resolution time 5-7 for any issues.
Thank you for reading, i look forward to nice offers

$15 per quarter is possible for dedicated core.

    BuyVM

Edit: I don't think BuyVM offers dedicated core. Check kimsufi or netcup

They do but not at that price!

  • That's gonna be tough with that budget, why does it have to be dedicated though you aren't running production workloads on it anway.

  • You won't find a dedicated core for $15 a year. Impossible for a company to make any profit. Find a good shared core provider. If its a good provider, the fact that its shared shouldn't make a huge difference for most tasks.

For a Pentium 4 core yes.

You don't need a dedicated core for all these, and your budget is not enough for a dedicated one.

    Seconds? Minutes? Hours? Days? Weeks?

TBH, with your requirement and budget, just install VirtualBox or similar on your PC and go town with it!

I really dont think you will need a dedicated core. The rest of the resources (ram, space) will be bottlenecked way before you max out your dedicated core. Also, if you plan to go for torrents, go for an offshore provider where a few dmca can be ignored.
For your usage a Vcore should do, and should come in very cheaply.

I have used quite a few hosts but @RackNerd is my current favourite and takes indian payment.

After reading the comments, It seems dedicated core will not be required.
Is there any good provider in that case ?

5-7 days is good enough as i will mostly be practising on weekends.
Sadly i only have laptop currently which isn't powerful enough to handle virtual box

  • I agree racknerd is suitable for your use case. However, based on your description, I recommend you raise your budget a bit to get a ryzen server which will make every feel faster for you. E5s work but they feel slow to work with especially if you're gonna install different stuff. Or just setup your own vm

Ah, their cheapest plan is for 34 usd annually
Maximum budget for me is 18 usd/ year

Well, they don't have ryzen in europe anyway. Your best choice is probably in europe given your budget. Guess you can stick with racknerd's amsterdam non-ryzen 1GB which should be around $15/year. Or look around. I think naranja's 20 euro/year 2 GB is pretty good.

To save some money you could use AWS free tier (12 months free for EC2) or provider, that gives free trial for a month (like Kamatera).

If you don't own separate PC, I wouldn't cripple the main one, just to make it a test range. Also if you're behind the router or have dynamic IP there would be issues.
