Thanks for the good offer of @DataIdeas-Josh. The VPS of specs: Xeon - 1GB Ram / 10GB SSD is only $12 p/y.

Today I have tested the YABS. This is the result:

Seems a tad slow. But got to think about it as well. How many other people in the world are running that report and hitting the same servers :grey_question:

Seems about right for me, being primarily Cogent - ~500Mbps within the US, 300Mbps EU, ??? APAC.

CU/CT/CM via most providers are going to be trash unless they pay for fancy Chinese transit - which isn't going to happen in Texas, nor for $12/yr.

    Thanked by 1DataIdeas-Josh
  • Anyway, your yabs network test doesn't mean anything for you. Your speed to china carriers looks normal.

SOmetimes you get fancy and can pull these numbers...

Take it with a grain of salt considering this is with SpeedTest.net

I actually didn’t expect how fast his connection to China would be. That’s why I put the second test result in the second place.

Dear boss it is good enough. I am satisfied. Wondering how many users are there on this server?

Just so you are aware, network is not always healthy. It will fluctuate.

You can run that script all day long, wanting your ideal result, but that will never be the final.

+1 to looks good to me. My busiest production server is sitting at around 40mbit sustained right now. That's about 4mb/s for context, for anyone that needs it.

I said “about.” It’s in the vicinity of correct. You might be making a MB vs mb point but typing on my phone I’m not so concerned with the little things. If the reader knows megabit and megabyte, they get it. Most people don’t refer to megabit as mb/s or Mb/s in practice, usually Mbps or as in the above script, Mbits. Back in the day before widespread broadband you never had to clarify any capitalization of MB/s, everyone knew you meant megabyte.

Yes, I was. And that's hella lazy, both in typing and math (!), but then to add a second number? If you're going to be lazy, you got to do it right (less work) and let the user do the conversion themselves.
