The PHP performance ranking doesn't look that bad, well it actually looks very good, PHP holds its ground with other compiled languages, it is ahead of Node, Python and Ruby which are it's competitors, it will actually get much better with it's new JIT in PHP8(the benchmarks are from when PHP8 wasn't released) and year by year iterations over it.

I know those are not real world frameworks being used and are just a thin layer over TCP, but a recent benchmark also confirms the same with default http implementations, Again the following link uses PHP7 (and not PHP8 with JIT)
