What is the difference between a Paypal Checkout and a Paypal One Time Payment?

I'm about to make a Paypal payment and I see that the button is a large flat blue button, rather than the small gold button I usually see.

What is interesting is that the Paypal One Time Payment option which I take to be the normal method shows the gold button.

Is someone engaged is some trickery here, perhaps the Paypal Checkout meaning they can take another payment, or I automatically create some kind of payment mandate?
